i already worked on improving my math and i succeeded(whats really important now is how i actually do on the test cause ive only been doing timed tests out of the Real ACT prepguide)

ide really like to raise my cr

so far my stats are

36e 36m 29r 35s

i just need to score 2 points higher on the reading for a 35 composite

and i need the best scores i can get cause my gpa is stupid
i didnt try freshman or sophomore year.
Now i do
at the begging of junior year i had a 3.17uw
and by the end i should have a 3.49 uw and a 3.75w
im applyin for NYU
BU
Middlebury
colagate
and Johns Hopkins
so i need the best scores i can get since my gpa is kinda low for most of those schools

Just take as many practice tests as possible. Take as many SAT reading practice tests as possible, of course lower the time limit... Got my score from a 18 to a 29 in reading... So...

I jumped from a 26 to 33 with little practice, just APENG.

Um, I highly recommend just reading a lot prior to the ACT.. During the test, read the question and then the paragraph/section that it pertains to. Just keep jumping back and forth....

Also, at the end of each passage, fill in the bubbles! For me it was a cumulative time-saver and I thus I got to take a 5 minute nap :)

Does anyone know which Critical Reading section is harder? SAT or ACT? because I've been practicing a lot for the SAT and well yeah... just wondering XD

Definitely the best practice is multiple choice sections based on passages. We do them weekly in my AP English class and it brought my CR from a 32 to a 36.

lol. this is great. I took a critical reading section timed but I forgot to stop myself. And I stopped at 41 minutes. but I didn't miss anything! I don't know if I read slow or something.. but I thought I did it quite quickly =/

SAT reading KILLED me. like, i was murdered after the first passage. ACT reading= my friend. SO MUCH EASIER

this also applies to the science section, but it works for reading as well.

-Quickly, maybe 30 seconds, skim over the passage to get the main idea.
-Go straight to the questions and label where (only if it gives you a specific place to go to) the question is referencing. If, lets say, question #2 corresponds with the paragraph about a koala's mating habits, put a 2 next to that paragraph.
-Now you are ready to answer the questions. Read the question, but COVER UP the answer choices. Try to formulate your own answer. Your answer is usually paraphrased, if not exactly, what the real answer is. Believe me, this works! this will point you to the right answer and shun you away from the tricky wrong ones. if you can make your own answer, you wont waste time second guessing yourself.

Adopt these steps, and you will be well on your way to doing well on the section. Before doing this, i was a reading loser. i swear, i felt like i couldnt do it; in april, i got a 27. using this strategy allowed me to raise my score to a 34 (for serious...no lies no lies) That trick is MAGIC. saves you SO MUCH TIME and aggravation!
