Thanks for all the help.

I would check with admissions to see if you could apply now before you start. I suspect not but the worst they could tell you is “no”. I have never heard of anyone being able to do this but that does not mean it has never happened.

I do know that once a student starts at UD they can subsequently apply to the Honors Program for admission. The student would need to take 2 honors program courses, get at least a 3.0 in them, get recommendations from the professors, and then complete a formal application. In order to take honors courses a student needs to have at least a GPA of 3.0 and get permission from the Honors Program to take the courses (if space is available-preference is given to Honors Program students). You would need to complete one semester at UD, then take 2 honors courses the 2nd semester, and then apply in your sophomore year. Check out the Honors Proram website for more info about this.

Just FYI a student can graduate from UD with various honors designations (cum laude, magna cum laude, summa cum laude) without being in the Honors Program (This is a separate designation). You would need to have an overall GPA in the top 13% in your UD college in order to obtain one of these honors designations. Hope this info is helpful. Best wishes to you at UD.

I did. They just told me no.

Thank you, though. Your information was helpful.
