How would a female above avg but avg student fare at Vassar?

My d loves the school and sounds like a perfect fit but her stats do not seem as extravagant as some posted on this forum.

she is top 10% of class w/ strong transcript, artistic but not majoring in art she wants to apply undecided, strong writing and humanities student.SAt 1930(retook 10/8 await score)SAT subject us History 780 and will take LIT in Dec. expect high score. Ap History-5 will take ap lit in May.Fine essay and good recs from teachers expected.

Not too much volunteer or ec's.

We need fin aid to attend and is white, middle class from Long Island.

Questions:
Chances of admission?
Is it worth it to take a subject test in December if she is sending app soon?
Does Vassar offer EA ( I will look at app booklet but did not remember just now)
My d is under the impression that the school may have too many rich kids and won't fit in, also that they will be smarter than her. We told her of the diverse mix of sudents at all schools but we wonder if she is accepted how much spending money she would need realistically to socialize comfortably w/ other students off campus, weekends and such. Dress etc.
We visited Vassar in the summer and were blown away w/ the campus but not so by Poughkeepsie. What can you tell us about the town. Isolation?

Will her application be in vein? I'd like to feel confident not desperate when she applies.

Vassar doesn't offer EA... but it does offer two distinct ED programs. The deadline for ED 1 is Nov 15th and that for ED 2 is Jan 1st. Notifications come by mail approximately a month from each ED dealine.

Your daughter's US History score sounds impressive. Vassar says that an applicant who's sending in the new SAT score should also send 2 SAT II scores.... in the case of which, your daughter should give the test in December.

Most Vassar students belong to the top 10% group of students in high school. If your daughter is in the top 10%, has a strong transcript... I don't think she should think that others will be smarter... grades-wise, she seems to belong to the category of students who attend Vassar. Princetonreview.com says that Vassar considers the secondary school report to be MOST IMPORTANT while it considers SATs, essays, recommendations, etc to be IMPORTANT (but not most important).

You can go to the college site and see what their mean verbal, math scores are and get an idea where your daughter stands. You can go to princetonreview.com to get an idea of the estimated writing mean that you can expect vassar to have.

I can't help with the town part because I'm an international student. Applying ED 1 to vassar. wish your daughter the best of luck from me :) Hope I've been able to help...
