Howard University 6 Year BSMD Graduate. AMA!

Did they send emails?

I didnā€™t receive any email, I guess that is a rejection

Iā€™ll advice you still hang in there. The invited people are expected to accept in 7 days and if any decline, they may offer more spaces. The interview is not until April 8

Do you already have at least one other offer? If not do you mind sharing your SAT/ACT score and your unweighted GPA?

I got UToledo, SLU and Seton Hall so far.
but have good Undergrad with excellent aid from:
JHU - Full ride
Wayne State - full ride
UArizona - Full ride
RPI - Full ride
Case - Balance <3,700
Pitts - Balance <12,000
Uconn, Rochester, Howard, Stonybrook etc

A little confused on which to accept.

what do you think?

I can completely understand your dilemma. I just did some research and these are my findings.

  1. UToledo BS/MD seem the UG part is in Bioengineering and seem to be suggesting a 5 year run instead of 4. it seem the 4 year path though possible will be tough to maintain a great GPA and still do ECs.
  2. SLU admits 130 into the BSMD track and only 30 end up making it into medical. Why I really donā€™t know. So Iā€™ll advice you do more research
  3. Seton Hall/Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine only guarantees an interview with a minimum of an MCAT score of 510 (top 20%) and the medical school currently has a provisional accreditation and this may play heavily on where you match for residency. I tried to find their recent matching list online but couldnā€™t.

For UG
4.JHU is a great school with a full ride and thatā€™s excellent but notorious for grade deflation from what others have posted.

I will advice you throw your situation open on the main forum and have other senior members weigh in before you make a decision. Itā€™s a really tough one we have here!

Thank you so much.

Will do just that

Howard BSMD interview result was just released

Does anyone know what percentage of students in the Howard Univ 6 yr med program, who have already achieved the required minimum undergrad GPA and minimum MCAT score, but are still not admitted into their medical school? I am concerned that the program requires the students to still submit a formal application and have an interview for the medical school even after successfully completing the first two years. Thanks

To the best of my knowledge, there has never been any student in Howard BS/MD who met all the stipulated undergrad minimum and MCAT requirements that has ever been denied admission to the medical school.

Thank you deejay19. That is good to know.

Hi, Because Howard University bsmd results come out in August and most colleges expect students to commit to their college by May, does that mean you have to reject all other colleges in anticipation that you will get accepted to Howard or is there a way to notify the other colleges that you are still waiting for an answer?
