Howard University Class of 2020!

@justinPon: What IS showing on Bisonweb? Also, did you go to the link @partyof5 posted earlier where you make payments? That area can show payments as well.
I remember things taking seemingly forever. She went to summer freshman orientation in the summer and confirmed that everything was in place. But yes, it is very, very frustrating.
I think she registered for courses at a summer freshman orientation but I will check (FYI, have your ACT/SAT score with you as that can waive the math placement test if high enough).
As @mtjones1 stated, I would guess that after graduation would be a better time to check in. Keep in mind:

  1. Offices are partly staffed with work study students who now will be ending their jobs and heading home. More student staff will be in place in the summer when summer school starts later in the month.
  2. Pres. Obama is speaking at graduation. The whole campus will likely be turned upside down with move in, move out, graduation readiness and on top of that the security measures, screening and planning that will be taking place all week.
    Try back after May 9 or 10th. I am a planner and was calling, emailing, etc. a great deal. My D was more laid back about it all and it did in fact (including the scholarship) all fall into place.

Oh and does all this late updating have to do sth with the ICAP document evaluation, IELTS official sent scores and $45 app fee Mr.Byron Livingstone keeps insisting about?
@ReturningFavor . All that says on the Bisonweb is that my contract is still under ‘need to submit/no file status’. On the estimated costs page too everything written is $0.00.
And yes I have checked what @partyof5 . has suggested. Under payment history there is both enrollment deposit and housing application deposit fees.
If the IELTS and ICAP arent really required, I wanna pass those because international transportation is really high and I’d prefer not wasting my parents money if not required to.
I have read on Howard site that installment deadline is on July 1st. Will all these really make it on time for it?

I told my daughter not expect any additional info until after graduation. Just like @ReturningFavor said, we won’t check in until about May 9th or 10th as far as bisonweb goes. We have copies of everything just in case there are issues. And that’s not just a practice for Howard that is for all things. From what I understand the classes are picked for the 1st semester freshmen so you don’t have to register for classes initially. I know that was done last year. I also know of other universities that do the same.

“Under payment history there is both enrollment deposit and housing application deposit fees.” Make copies of those (you can screen print), @JustinPon
I am not sure about the international student part, I am sorry.
Howard has a ton of international students, so they certainly know what is required and how to deal with internationals. I just one was on this board to answer those questions for you. However, ideally after graduation HU will answer you!

Yes I too do have copies of everything I have sent them including finalized pages of transactions made. However this whole slow-processing thing is leaving me worried even though I know I have kept copies. Just in case sth went wrong… :frowning:

So all I need to continue now is submit all 3 that they had asked just in case and wait for everything to sort themselves out? 1 more thing I’m afraid is that all this waiting might change the amount of the scholarship. In the terms and conditions, it’s said that the amount may be altered depending on institution appropriations. Worried that the delay in proper scholarship acceptance might lead to that and without the scholarship I am offered now, my parents wont be able to pay for the fees.

I don’t know anything about the international side either. All I can say is just continue to call and email to get answers. And if you don’t get a timely answer by email, email them back and cc the president on it. I bet you get an answer. Lol!

I think you should be fine getting answers though if you wait until after graduation.

Thanks for all your help @mtjones1 and @ReturningFavor . Maybe I’m just overthinking but really all this is making me stressed out. And yes I have been doing that. As we speak I have just sent 2 new mails to the housing committee and the admissions office. Hopefully, I dont get a repetitive useless answer or a completely contradictory one.

@JustinPon

I can relate so much. Don’t worry my bison web portal says “needs to be submitted” too still. I think it is just slow updating.

@JustinPon (as said by another) my D said that in the past Howard registers freshmen for fall courses, based upon your major. If you end up in an honors program, that program will adjust it accordingly.

@cookiestar Same here

My daughter registered at summer orientation. She met with an adviser and reviewed AP credit. I’m not sure how they do it now.

Has anybody received a HUFS and their financial aid package and signed the scholarship contract but your scholarship isn’t listed as accepted? I’ve received notice of all my financial aid and signed my contract which they received and it is reflected on bisonweb but my scholarship still says “Offered” instead of “Accepted”???

@DesU97 same here

@partyof5 I heard that too, but a lot of people got scholarships though. A lot.

@PreDent101 yes a kit did, but they cut out a lot of kids that could easily afford room/board but were not offered tuition because there was no " need" even though they had the requisite test scores.

@ReturningFavor Howard registers students for classes based on their major now? Well that’s a nice upgrade; I had to fight for required classes lol

@partyof5 what do you mean?

@JustinPon I am an international student as well. It took about a week, after signing the contract and paying the housing application fee, for them to update my bison web account saying that I had satisfied the required conditions. During that time I too was very worried because I have heard horror stories about people coming to school in the fall, and admin telling them that they no longer had a scholarship because they never signed the contract. Before my account was properly updated, a financial aide rep. told me that as long as I had proof of my contract acceptance and receipt of the housing fee before the specified deadline, they could not rescind my scholarship or housing application. So, just give it sometime and have your proof ready, just in case. Also, another important thing to do before coming to school in the states if you are international is completing the I-20. I received mine in the mail yesterday and will start on the whole process asap, because it takes some time complete and process.

This is an example of a revoked scholarship because of failure to sign the scholarship…it made me keep calling them until I got a satisfactory answer and my account status was properly changed. She is one year older than us, so would have been HU19
