HS Junior with a D in Apush

Hi all,
I am freaking out. It is finals week and all of my grades junior year are 2 times better than they have been in the past two...except APUSH.
Currently in APUSH I have a D-. If I do well on my final and do the semester extra credit and turn in late notes I can MAYBE get a C-.

WHAT DO I DO? I'm NOT a bad student! I get A's on all my electives, language, and English. I get B's in math and history usually, and C's in science. This year I have an A- in math, probably a B in science, and A's in all other classes.
I'm also junior class president of my class and we beat the seniors in Homecoming, and I am planning on running for Student Body next year.
I have been studying the SAT for 7 months and am planning on taking it once in May and once in June.
I am also a photographer and am well-known in my community for it, and I have my own portfolio. I have entered multiple contests this year to help with college admissions/

I have no idea what I'm going to do. My GPA is a 3.4 I think....
What am I going to do. My dream school is New York University and I'm praying I can get in with my qualifications outside of my GPA.

I shouldn't have messed up my grade in APUSH but I did.
If I can pull it up to a C-, will it be weighted to a B-???

HELP!! I'm literally so stressed out.
Sincerely,
A Misunderstood Student

Does anyone have any advice at all?

First and foremost, you need to work as hard as possible to get a C-. Preventing getting a D is much better than anything you might do trying to explain or recover from it. Talk to the teacher, tell him your situation as student leader.

If you get a C plus a 2000+ on the SAT, NYU should come within reach.

Is the “D” the final in the course or are you just nearing the halfway point in the class?
If the class goes through the end of the year, you have time to salvage that final grade.
Our high school does not report semester marks on the transcripts so, if you can do well the last two (?) marking periods you may be ok. I’d ask for a copy of your transcript to this point, if you have not seen one, so you’ll know exactly what appears there and what does not.
If this class ends in January, then all you can do is work hard over break to salvage the class, try to do well on the final, and perhaps study hard for the AP exam in May in the hopes that you can show you learned the material. Tough situation. Good luck.
