I am SO ****ING EXCITED to come to Berkeley!!!!!

Nice weather? HAHA, you have no idea what nice weather at Berkeley is like. Better bring 3 umbrellas because it’s going to be a long while before you see sunshine again.

do they party?

Speaking of umbrellas… Do guys use umbrellas at Berkeley? My son is giving me a hard time because I told him he needs to buy a good umbrella… haha

Better slap some sense into that son of yours making you do all the preparation for his freshman year. And yes better bring 3 strong umbrellas as 1 will be stolen, 1 will be forgotten in lecture hall, and 1 will protect him from the occasional downpour.

Hahaha!!! Three umbreallas… Oh he’s going to love that! Don’t worry. He’s doing his part. I’m the fine tuner… :-)

Gone two years without an umbrella. Some days it just sucks, but most days, a good jacket will be just fine.

Ha! Now you sound just like my son… Don’t you get soaked??

I always see a bunch of guys walking around without umbrellas during a downpour, and getting soaked. I just don’t get it…Girls on the other hand, almost always use an umbrella.

haha there’s only a few days in the year when rain just pours down. (from my past 2 years at least). my first year was disastrous because my jacket didn’t have a hood. major soakage there since i had to walk across campus second semester. However, I got a really great jacket(with a hood :D) that had me wearing t-shirts underneath even in the coldest days.
The problem with rain here is that there’s usually heavy wind too, so the rain goes slanted and everyone just ends up wet anyways. I figured, why hassle with both a jacket and an umbrella? The only thing is that you might have to deal with upper jeans soakage if you don’t have an umbrella.

Force him to bring an umbrella though. Haha. Give him the ol’ one-two before he leaves. ;D

Haha… Oh I will, don’t you worry! We’re looking for a good jacket now. That seems to be the key.

This is true…about the wind. Wind has to be my least favorite weather condition. I can deal with rain and snow, but wind just sucks IMO.

Umbrellas can be bought here, so I wouldn’t worry so much about packing it. Make sure you get a good one that won’t flip on you in the wind. I see so many sadly disfigured umbrellas in trash cans around campus after a windy/rainy day.

I love rain. : o )

Wow I will remember to buy a raincoat & rainboots

^I hate rain

I’m glad you guys are so excited. You should definitely live it up, first semester freshman year was the best three months of my life

I like rain a lot too lol, but I don’t like the wet musty feeling after you get drenched and sitting in a classroom/lecture hall, so thanks for the umbrella advice!

Nobody cares whether y’all like rain or not.

Likewise nobody cares if anyone hates rain. It is just a fact it rains a lot (which is good to know) but nothing is good or bad, only thinking makes it so.

We all take a bath and wash our cloth (at least I hope so). Our bodies are made almost entirely of water, thus needing it to survive. I will buy an umbrella sure but I don’t see it as such a villain…unless there is a damn very chilly wind which I guess is why everyone really hates about Berkeley rain? But rain in a hot day is just perfect. Jogging in the rain is the most teraupetic thing ever.

^Hmm is Dr. P really Dr. Phil pretending to be a Berkeley student? lol jk

but I agreed though. Rain-jogging is therapeutic.

I don’t even care if it rains at this point. It’s 99 today, no breeze, hot as hell, and I’m done with Florida.

^ Lol it’s 95 here in Idaho, and here we have a dry heat with almost no humidity. Doesn’t humidity make heat feel better? (I’m assuming Florida is humid but I could be dead wrong since I’m guessing without proof), but I personally like heat if there’s a beach area to go with it…Idaho sigh.
