Well right now I'm a second semester Senior, and I am taking an honors Physics coarse with a lunatic teacher. I got into Berkeley which was my top choice, but right now I have a D in this class. I am very scared, because this guy is making it very hard for me and the people in my class to bring up the grade.

I have all of my science prerequisites already fulfilled to graduate, but I am very scared that my admission could be revoked if god forbid this grade stays the same. If the worse happens, will Berekley rescind my admittance. This teacher is crazy and I should have never taken his class and I just dont know what to do.

I would notify them ASAP. They make exceptions. i know someone that got a D first semester. and berkeley said as long as u get B 2nd semester and ur other classes are fine you’re in good shape. i also was an exception. i had below 3.0 first semester. they said overall is fine.

I would let them know about ur case asap and go on from there.

Zorro,
you better get at least a C in your physics class. Berkeley offered admission to more students than they can accomadate. You give them a reason to rescind you admission, they will do. I know one guy who got accepted to berkeley but got a D in his art class in the second semester of his senior year. ART!!! Berkeley rescinded his admission. Four years of hard high school labor undone by a D.

Definitely talk to your teacher. You are definitely at his mercy now. Volunteer to mop his classroom, clean up the lab, wipe tables, bribe him, etc…

I don’t mean to scare you but I know a guy who had his admission rescinded a couple of weeks AFTER school started (they take some time to process your high school transcripts) because he got a D in some class. So really try and get rid of that D.

i have the exact same problem. my physics teacher is scraping me, I have like a 60% right now. 8888-you can have a 3.0 overall? so if I got a 3.8 first semester I have more leeway?

Please read the Berkeley’s Provisional Admission Contract before asking questions. It states that you need to maintain an overall unweighted 3.0 GPA for each term (meaning each semester). If you get below a C, immediately notify the admissions office. Most of the time, they will be lenient on you. But definitely don’t get Fs … that’s basically asking them to rescind your admission.

Definitely agree with what everyone has said!

First thing is first, try to talk to the teacher. I know that might be difficult, but you have to. See if you can get any extra credit, and if that doesn’t work then try telling them about getting Berkeley…etc…and if THAT doesn’t work, I would go see a counselor and see what they can do about the situation!

If none of that goes your way, then contact Berkeley asap and let them know your situation and hopefully they will work with you.

I also have a friend who’s admission got revoked because of a C-, it was last year, so it’s still very hard for her.

Best of luck, just do your best, study harder, maybe find a tutor?

Yes she did have higher than a 3.0, I still don’t understand why they revoked her admissions. Well, they clearly said no grade lower than a “C”. :/

^
No, lol. The contract said with “no grade lower than a C” a C- is lower than a C. Yeah, I know what was the specific case with her! Don’t worry and good luck!
