I applied a few days ago, so can you chance me?

Hi, so I applied on Monday (although I doubt my school will get the transcript in for a little bit). So what are my chances for the University, the honors program, and I am thinking of applying for the deans honors scholarship, but I'm not sure. Should I?

I live in New Jersey and I am half Chinese and half white (I'm putting down white on the app, but I have an Asian last name).

I go to a really good private boarding school in Massachusetts which sends probably 70 percent of its class to top 25 Universities or top 20 colleges. There is no class rank or GPA, and there are very few ap classes. Also, nobody ever gets straight As.

So I have a B+ ish average with an upward trend.

SATS - 2220 - 740,740,740
SAT IIs - US History 740, Math I 680 (yeah)

These are the highlights of my extras
- 2 sport varsity athlete (baseball and track)
- paid intern at local newspaper in Jersey.
- Debate president
- Model UN
- An editor of school newspaper.
There's also like the normal community service stuff, but I don't want to bore y'all.

I want to major in English or Sociology

I would say for sure you will get in, excellent chances for the Honors Program. It is a little hard to assess in your case since your prep school doesn’t package things into a neat statistical package and you don’t have AP’s, but I would bet that it has a reputation that is well known to the admissions people and so if you have performed well there, as apparently you have, that will move you up the ladder, so to speak.

Your shot at the DHS seems a little more unlikely, but a lot depends on the project itself. Some people don’t think so, but a really good project can take a borderline case and get them one of the last offers. You certainly have nothing to lose.

Agree with fallenchemist. You’re in, and you have a good shot at Honors. You’ll likely get some merit scholarship money, but how much really depends on your project and whether Tulane is looking to boost its English and/or Sociology programs THIS year. Go for it though, and good luck.

you’re in man… your SAT’s are far above their requirements, seems like your school’s credentials could really help you out… and athletics, Debate, Model UN, newspaper, and comm service should also help; you’re def in and have a good shot at the Honors Program; the DHS might be a little harder to obtain though

yeah, Tulane took 2 weeks to process my transcript & their Info Request Form from the school… so don’t be too worried; good luck!

Our names are very similar, and we seem both very scared lol.
This is what I think - you’re in probably honors with some merit aid.
Honestly it doesn’t seem like you have that good a chance at the DHS, but you should go for it. Have a really good project, and whats the worst that can happen.
