there you have it, tell me if I haven't included anything. now, i can haz chance, pleez?

I think you would get into NYU, but can you afford it? Getting much aid given that you’re from NY and would not be top of their pool is unlikely.

According to my parents, money is not an issue. My brother goes to Fordham, which costs about as much as NYU and Columbia, and there is no issue here at home. So I guess its fine.

You have as good a chance as anyone, especially considering your hardship at home. If you can articulate how this has affected you and how you’ve been able to overcome it, the adcoms will be really impressed. Best of luck!

articulate your hardships and you have a shot at both schools…if not NYU you should be good with, but may have trouble with expenses considering it is one of the most expensive in the country

You plan to “take Intel research” next year? What does this incorporate?

I hope you realize that Intel STS is very very very coveted and competitive. The SF are given an edge during the college process and the National Finalists are high on the “Poach” list for top schools.

I once read a book called stiff, where the author mentioned that the cheek cells of a person were extracted, then were taken 50 miles away to a lab while said person watched a gruesome movie. Naturally, the person became disgusted, but what was amazing was that the cells also exhibited symptoms of “disgust” (releasing certain enzymes/hormones), despite the fact that they were separated. I want to study this and its consequences more in depth.

you have some great test scores and gpa. make sure you elaborate on your ECs in your essays and such. is intel research a class? if so im jealous…
