I had a teacher fill out a rec on the Common App, and she submitted it to all the colleges I had checked. First of all, I didn't mean to check her for every single college, and second, can I make it so the colleges don't receive this recommendation, because her writing is very poor! (no offense to her and I'm not trying to be pompous at all!)

In other words, if a teacher has submitted her rec online and it was submitted to all the schools I had checked, is there a way to unsend it?!?!

help I'm freaking out!

Well … there is a way that I know of BUT it involves the teacher! My S’s AP Calc teacher sent his LOR “early” before it included some additional info from S’s summer internship. So we researched with Common App and found that if the student has not yet submitted their app, the teacher can “undo” their letter, and then re-send.

What if… I just moved the schools to one of my alternate forms on the common app? For example, I had Wake on it, and the Common App had the rec being sent to there, but if I move it to an alternate form, it no longer has that. Does it actually work that way or no? So I guess the question is- Does the common app send the LOR to colleges right after it is submitted, or when the rest of the application is sent out??

Thanks for the help, by the way

I’m confused… what exactly is your problem?

I believe once they finish your rec online, it will only be sent once you submit the online application. (Correct me if I’m wrong). As for paper copy, I’m not sure.

Anyhow, it poses the question: why did you get her to write you a rec in the first place?

^^ That answers my question, thanks.

I had her write a rec because shes a good teacher, I had her freshman year and have her again this year and I have a good relationship with her. She is a foreign language teacher. She’s just not a very good writer.
