am getting screwed in AP bio and i might end up with a D+ , what should i do ?
with a D+ i have a 2.83 but in 1st semester i had no Ds or Fs and i had a 3.17
u think if i tell them they will rescind my acceptance ?

my grades
Subject 1st/2nd
spanish 3 B/B
AP macro econ (1 semes) B
AP polisci ( 1 semes ) B
Ceramics B/B
English 4 B/B
AP stats C/C
AP bio C/D+ ( currently)

on a scale of 1-10 ( with 10 being i am rescinded ) where do i stand ?

It averages out to a 3.00 so I think you’re just barely safe. Try and figure out ways to get more points and such. And like post above, a-g? If so, :X. Give them a call and explain your situation.

My friend is in a similar situation at Cal Poly SLO, and he is pretty much screwed. He called and they said due to the significant budget cuts to the CSU and UC system, there are about 50,000 more students in CA Public Universities then the state can afford. That means that if UCSB or any other CA public has an opportunity to cut one of the excess students they will… Ultimately theres not much compassion, and its pretty much a numbers game.

You really need to get your teacher to change your D to a C-… Do everything you can, bring in a parent, if nothing seems to work, maybe even guilt trip your teacher. “Isn’t there anything I can do to change my grade to a c-, this is my future… If I get a D, my whole future life could be ruined”.

The AP CHEM class does matter, it is probably one of the reasons you got accepted (secondary school record) so please don’t listen to tjdabeast.

Good Luck, and definitely be concerned with getting that grade switched or you may be the example for the younger kids at your school… You don’t want to be known as that girl who ****ed up because of senioritis.

I never said the AP Chem didn’t matter. He said that AP Bio wasn’t an a-g, so that means if he gets a D in AP Bio, it wouldn’t affect his admissions. I suggest you read further before making those accusations. Lurk around the forums and other websites, there are tons of people who have Ds in non a-g related course and their admission officers said it was fine.

Meaning that if she recorded that down for a class on her application, it indeed was a factor in her admission to UCSB.

Amby262roy- If the D is gonna stick, you should immediately begin writing a letter to UCSB explaining why you got a D and why they should still allow you to attend in the fall.

Again, read all posts before saying anything.

We all know AP Bio can be used to satisfy ur A-G requirements, but he/she already satisfied them already, so he/she is just taking AP Bio as an extra class for his/her schedule.

I believe u need 3 semesters for lab science, which was satisfied “ap chem , ap physics and honors chem” , meaning AP bio would count as her 4th.

Thats like saying you are taking 5 semesters of math, when in reality you need 3. As long as you pass 3 of them to satisfy your a-g requirement for math, you are okay.

“He called and they said due to the significant budget cuts to the CSU and UC system, there are about 50,000 more students in CA Public Universities then the state can afford. That means that if UCSB or any other CA public has an opportunity to cut one of the excess students they will…”

BestIndaWestre, are you saying someone actually SAID all of this, or is that your interpretation?

and my reason was that i had been really sick for the past couple of months ( like i had to go home a number of times because i had enormous headaches and i was very sick ) this is true and not some BS

Don’t worry, dude this kid in my AP physics class got a D the first semester and is going to a CSU and because he has already fulfilled the A-G requirements he won’t be getting revoked.

Yes, it could be very possible that they will not allow as many freshman in next year because they over-enrolled this year. At least more people drop out of UCSB than any other school in the UC system because people can’t handle partying and studying at the same time.

For example the past couple years SDSU has over enrolled freshman…and now those freshman are juniors and are occupying the spots that transfer students would normally take. This year SDSU declined TONS of transfer students because they didn’t have the room. Pretty ****ty.
