I feel like ...

They denied prospective admissions though, not rescinded accepted ones. You’re like me, we worry too much!

Does anyone know how long I have to wait to hear from them ?

i called ( couldn’t get hold of a counselor ) and emailed yesterday, should I call them up again on Monday or Tuesday ?

how about you just calm down a bit… they will reply in a timely manner they will not just ignore you

Lawcha
i don’t want to be revoked

:(

What a bunch of bull! Why don’t you post again and tell us about the STD rate?

I’m sure his negative sentiments have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the fact UCSB rejected him (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-santa-barbara/717839-how-hard-transfer-computer-science.html#post1062601869</a>)

In fact, the UC’s have very similar freshman persistence rates, 3-4% higher at Cal and UCLA since they can take the strongest UC applicants, but still 90+% at the rest. See the REAL story at http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/news/compreview/0113_meeting/outcomes.pdf</a></p>

Buuuusted, nice catch mikemac. And it takes a few days for the counselors to respond amby. And they do not respond over the weekends, so it’ll probably be weds or thurs before you hear back.

hopefully not a rescind of my acceptance.

btw i said that the reason was that i had been sick for the past couple of months on and off. sometimes its just the common cold and sometimes its massive headaches that i had to miss school. my ceramics even had to send me home once because i had a huge headache that day and i couldn’t concentrate.

this is true and she’s (ceramics teacher) willing to back up my case.

is this a good enough reason.

this is true and not some BS

At least more people drop out of UCSB than any other school in the UC system because people can’t handle partying and studying at the same time.

Not true. This is the data I got using StatFinder:

UC | 4 Year Graduation rate (Class of 2004) | 6 Year Graduation rate (Class of 2002)

Berkeley, 69.3%, 90.2%
Davis, 51.6%, 82.8%
Irvine, 60.6%, 82.2%
Los Angeles, 67.3%, 89.3%
Riverside, 45.8%, 67.5%
San Diego, 57.6%, 86.3%
Santa Barbara, 65.0%, 83.5%

Santa Cruz 51.6%. 72.3%

Santa Barbara has the 3rd highest 4 year graduation rate (after Berkeley and UCLA), and the 4th highest 6 year graduation rate (after Berkeley, UCLA, and UCSD).

nice

10char

is anyone else willing to comment.

i don’t want to get rescinded

It’s the weekend. As far as I know, they won’t respond during the weekend - they’re not working. When I email financial aid office, they respond very quickly, usually within an hour of their office opening.

does it have to be average over the entire year or just per semester a 3.0 ?

Per semester

Um in my Projected grades I wrote that I might geta D+ or C- in AP Bio @ the end of 2nd semester, is that bad?

Anybody?

Plz help me put

None of you seem to understand. If amby262roy included that she was going to take AP Biology as a second semester class on her UC application, she is expected by the UC system to pass that class with a C- or better. If she wasn’t going to pass a required A-G class she wouldn’t even be eligible to go.

The only reason im commenting is because my good friend is having the same exact problem except at Cal Poly SLO. He already has the required credits to be eligible to go to Cal Poly for science, because he took Bio and Chem, but he just got a D in Physics and he called Cal Poly, and they said that a committee is now going to have to factor his admission chances without the exceeding secondary education benefits he had by appearing to take Physics. They said that the rescind rate is really high, and will most likely be higher due to the lack of budget.

Look at the Cal Poly Forum and there is a similar forum.

jesus

i’ll just end up at a cc then

Im not saying that will happen, just cross your fingers and hope the best. I think its a different story with Cal Poly SLO than with UCSB. I know for a fact that Cal Poly has over enrolled for this year despite the fact that they only accepted around 33% of applicants. UCSB might not have over enrolled, and you might be fine.

No, its been confirmed that UCSB has overenrolled. Amby262roy, don’t freak out just do what you have to to stay in UCSB.

If its a different story then why are you posting here? Does it make you feel better that SLO has a 33% acceptance rate? You must consider that its a CSU; therefore, most of its applicants have a way lower stats profile. And I do have the right to say that because I was one of those “33%” acceptees. She’s not getting revoked, its occurred to many others before and they weren’t. They cannot use the terms of condition to let them off, and not her.
