I got my grades back from this semester, I got 3 As and 1 B so I didn’t get the expected UC transferable gpa that I wanted (3.6+). How badly will this B affect my UC tag application in September and the usual admissions application in November?
It’ll make a difference. Since you can’t do much about the B though, instead plan for the future. Your summer and fall grades matter too and will go into the GPA calculation. Make sure to plan out a courseload this fall that will help you raise your gpa and try your best not to get another B. If you spend your fall and/or summer right then the B won’t be as bad. Good luck!
EDIT: For tag it might hurt your gpa requirement. You should look over your school’s tag requirement and if you can sit down with a counselor to iron out any details. Summer classes will count for tag so if you need it try to take one or two.
Irvine’s TAG is 3.4 minumum, which is the highest. Riverside’s business requires a 3.5. All the other TAGs or specialty majors are 3.3 or lower. So you’re fine.
I wouldn’t worry about it! Surprisingly, most smart kids don’t have a 4.0 unweighted gpa.
