Don't know, but I got mail from LSA honors on October 20, 2006 saying:

"You're a strong student, and I'm sure your mailbox...blahblabhlhablah"

"Once you've been admitted to the College, send us a quick email at honors.admission@umich.edu asking to be considered for the Honors Program" - found this line kind of funny....ONCE YOU"VE BEEN ADMITTED.

It's not the actual LSA honors application, it's just mail spamming me to apply to it.

Hey...with news of deferrals and me actually getting one...have there been ANY applicants rejected? Perhaps it could shed some light on my situation shrug

I'm currently not relying on Umich to accept me, and looking forward to another school...not that I'm giving up on Umich. It's just that I don't want to face any more disappointment.

Just got the defferral letter today. I kind of saw it coming because my GPA isnt that great by umich standards (3.6 uw) but my sats and ecs are pretty good (2240). I'm kind of ****ed off cause ive been waiting so long for a decision, and instead of them giving me one i have to wait even longer now. On the bright side, I've already gotten into Wisconsin so I have a great backup if Michigan doesnt work out. Does anyone know what percentage of Defferred applicants got accepted last year?

mrmmetski88 Im in the same boat as you, I got the deferral letter today and I have Wisconsin as my back-up, thank god. I was expecting it with my 3.4 UM GPA but maybe thought my 1470/2140 SAT and ECs would give me admission. w/e. So does anyone know for sure which letter is the good deferral letter?

They should put more weight on standardized tests. Lots of AP classes and a lower cooresponding GPA should not hurt an applicant, but it does at Umich.

BTW, my LSA honors letter said to send them an email with an optional essay. OPTIONAL! lol

If i had 100 dollars, i'd bet that you would still get in zkevin.

If you are applying to engineering, it might be more difficult, but my best guess says you still get in. I'm pretty sure you'd be at the top of the deferred stack IMHO.

You know what's funny, I have this ongoing bet on whether I go in at school. I lost about $50 if I get in (which isn't much of a loss considering if I don't get in I'm going OOS, which costs like 0172509127 times more lol). And if I don't get in I get like $50 (hah, at least I get some money if I get rejected :P)

Oh, btw, does anyone know if some deferred applicants recieve decisions sooner then April?

yeah i got the exact same letter you did. but my GPA is a lot lower (3.6) but i had family member die and other stuff happen. i retook my act n got a 32 n iono if they checked it. but i know a lot of my friends with 3.9+ have gotten there acceptance letters. but i also know kids with 3.4s have gotten in. this is really messed up. best of luck to you n i hope to see you there
