i hear the campus is dead on the weekends

obviously because most people visit home on weekends?
i kind of see that as a big downside...
[still trying to make a decision]
am i wrong to see it in that light / are tehre parties / clubs that the students go to?

i actually visited a for a day back in november and it was really deserted--will it always be like that?

I’ve been to schools like UCLA and USC on weekends with friends before. It’s deserted everywhere man. People just go home.

But to answer your other question: most likely wont be like that every weekend, especially near finals. But I dont think anyone will be partying or doing anything around that time.

at UCSB everyone was there hahahha
that place was SO chill…
it was FLOODED with students/ probably because the nightlife there is insane and its an amazing place to live

Then go there.

Your education, you should choose.

well i’d rather go to school that was better academically–not just for the parties…i was just justifying why i was wondering if UCSD was always deserted on weekends

Obviously “everyone” doesn’t go home on weekends. Most of us live too far away. There are quite a few SoCal students but even amoing those, not everyone actually wants to see their parents that much.

UCSB has people on campus because how many people do you really know from “CenCal”?

Heh, that’s true. According to StatFinder, only 7.75% of UCSB’s entering class was from the tri-county area around UCSB (SLO, SB, and Ventura counties). That means 92.25% of the freshman class is at least 1.5 hours (roughly) driving distance away from the school. In my time at UCSB, I can’t think one one person who went home every weekend, and I’d say 9 out of 10 only went home on the breaks.
