I just found out I F'd up the last thread...damn it

Hi, I'm applying undecided to the school of arts and science at Wisconsin, and undecided at the DGS at Illinois regular decision, furthermore undecided at Wake Forest and Oxford college of emory, and Georgia Tech. Oh and Southern Cal.

Location: CA

ACT: 27, but math 28 and english 32 (the 1330 is what tech looks at)

AP's: Span- 5 Eng- 4 US History- 3

GPA: 3.28 @ wisco, and oxford college of emory, southern cal
3.36 @ illinois, wake forest
3.45 @ Georgia Tech

ECs listed on app: football, track, was in 2 clubs, and work

Job/Work Experience: did finances that were really receipts at a family friend's company and also had a job there too

Essays (subject and responses): pretty darn good.

Teacher Recs: better than great

Counselor Rec: great

School Type: Private, does not rank

Ethnicity: Hispanic, I hope this helps a lot.

Gender:M

thank you. I'm sorry, but I screwed that last one up pretty bad, and I just found out about the Illinois thing and am kinda ****ed I didn't know earlier.

at least i'm 99.9% sure dgs is the undecided one, and the same goes with wisco

oh yeah and everything on there looks right too

oh and no chances for PS at Georgia Tech, b/c that time has come and gone. thanks a lot

i honestly have no idea about the colleges.

i'm not being racist, but being hispanic will definitely be a HUGE advantage esp. since your gpa is pretty decent.

Sorry I don't know much about Wisconsin, Illinois, Wake Forest, and Emory... but Emory is ranked pretty high, and their average GPA is 3.8, so it seems to be a reach for you. But I don't know about the different colleges in Emory, and how your ethnicity will factor in. USC might be a stretch too, because the average GPA is also 3.8. http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/private/0910/FreshmanProfile2008v3.pdf They didn't put SAT/ACT, but I remember it being around 2000 and 30 (from previous years), so your ACT is a bit on the lower side as well. Latino/Hispanic doesn't seem to be that big of a minority at USC; 14% compared to the 7% and 2% of African Americans and Native Americans/PIs. But again I don't really know how it'll factor in.

Wake forest, emory and USC are honestly pretty high ranks. I think your scores are low for USC, so I think it is a reach. Wake Forest and emory, I think your gpa is on their low end too, so it will probably be difficult...or maybe urm will help..who knows...good luck.

any thoughts on the others, too? but i know they're not schools everyone is familiar with

thanks for chancing me!:)
i have to say that wake, emory and usc are reaches, but being a urm should help you. you have a shot. you have better stats than several of my friends applying to wake and emory, and they are really cocky that they are gonna get it. so i get to laugh when they don't!lol! but good luck with your schools. the essays should aid you as well.

so cal and emory are reaches but i think wake forest is a high match...especially b/c your hispanic?
thos are the only ones I know about

Any chance at taking another ACT? Raising it a point or two would really help for Emory, Wake Forest, and USC. But I think those schools are low reaches for you, I bet you will get into at least one. Don't know about Wisconsin and Illinois... OOS tends to be really competitive and your URM status may not help as much there. I would say those are high match/low reach.

yeah i think it's a bit late for another act. sadly

I have no stats on any of these schools. But being an URM and with a good GPA and ACT you have a chance at all of them. But without any knowledge of the schools it's hard to say.

Oxford College of Emory may be a reach..............but your Hispanic with Act Scores that are just a little less than the average scores for Emory..........So it would be a mid-Reach....

I don't know anything about the other ones......

you guys aren't confusing oxford of emory with emory are you lol it's a common mistake though

and any thoughts on my number 1's, tech and usc? or illinois, too. and wisco.

I think you are easily in at Wisconsin and Oxford at Emory. You will probably get into Wake and Tech and I'm guessing being from California will help you get into USC. Have you considered applying to Emory and not the Oxford College? I think you have a shot to get in

yeah i'm applying to emory too. i visited it on my trip and loved it

Nice, I think you can get in. Good luck

I think you have a solid chance at all of them, but USC and Emory are less likely.

so you guys really think that i have a pretty solid chance at wisco, illinois, oxford, georgia tech (#1!) and maybe wake too?

sc and emory i classified as my reaches
