I'm applying RD to JHU. I started an online application a few weeks ago and I completely forgot about it. I started my online common application, and I'm using it for JHU's application (and supplement). Should I cancel my online application with JHU or just take JHU off of my list for using the common application?

I hope I'm being clear on this. If I'm vague in anyway, feel free to say so.. this is worrying me.. argh! Thanks

i heard that jhu adcoms like it better when u use their own apps, cuz they like their essay topics, so id prob take jhu off ur common app list.
(unless jhu is not like ur top top choice and u dont wanna do more essays, in which case i have no idea how to cancel the jhu online app...sry)
btw, i like ur location, very smart. hehe

I have to use the commapp in my case because for some reason my computer won't let me register with the jhu application! Yes, it's a very tempermental computer ;)

Can't I include JHU essays in my common application as well since the supplemental piece includes those prompts as optional essays (which I will certainly do)?

^yes you can (as I am as well! :p)

yea...im not an expert on this, but im pretty sure i read somewhere than u can do that

So staying with the common application (when applying to JHU) is okay, right? Do I even really need to cancel my JHU-specific online application? As long as I don't actually submit it and pay the $, I should be fine, correct?

Yes sir. (I've done that for a couple schools already, as long as you don't submit no problemo)

O okay, thanks!

I also accidentally made two accounts for my UVA online application (possibly even three). I kept forgetting my password, so I tried retrieving it by having them e-mail it to me. Whenever I checked my e-mail, it wasn't there, but I realized a few days ago that all of them went into the "spam" folder of my e-mail box lol.. this isn't a problem is it?

Nope. I, too did the same thing lol :p.

hopkins adcoms dun care which application you use. however, i think it behooves you to write their essays (like the $10 one) in addition to submitting your common app.

celebrian25, you also made that UVA blunder?

Spikedsoymilk, so as long as I write that $10 essay, I'm okay? I'll be writing it and attaching it to the JHU supplement.

just to clear up any confusion...and answer questions...

(1) JHU has no preference in which application you use -- our own or the Common application.

(2) JHU does prefer and highly recommend that applicants using the Common application submit the 2 JHU essays which are part of the supplement.

(3) If you have started a JHU online application, but now have chosen to submit the common application online instead you should de-activate your JHU online application. Otherwise you will receive numerous email reminders to submit the JHU online app. by the deadlines. (You probably have already received one...)

(4) You may keep the JHU online application active as it will not affect your common application in anyway. Just make sure not to submit duplicate applications!!!

Most importantly, if you have any questions call the Admissions Office (410-516-8171) or contact them through the main email address (gotojhu@jhu.edu).
