I need HELP with Dorms!

Does anyone know if Trusler Hall is as much fun and active as Broward, Rawlings, or Jennings? I want to apply to a dorm where its going to be fun and I heard that Broward, Rawlings, and Jennings were the most popular, but I spoke with someone from Trusler and they have a leader/scholar program that I think might be useful. Its also in a better location. If anyone can tell me I would appreciate it!

I wouldn't necessarily say Trusler has a better location...personally I would consider it kind of out of the way, but that's just me..the leader/scholar program might be worth it though!!

In all freshmen dorms youre going to have the same mind set of having fun and meeting new people or w/e.

I know people who live in Trusler and theyre very social, fun, active. Always going to football/basketball games, going out, etc.

A lot of people have stated this before but, Ill say it again- its not necessarily which freshmen dorm you live in, its the people who make the experience.

Does anyone know if you have to be a member of the organization in a dorm to live in that dorm?

For example if I wanted to live in Yulee would I have to become a member of the Global Living Learning Community?

No you don't have to join anything to live there

The only perk living so far from everything is the parking garage and parking lot. There's a parking lot right in front of Hume/Simpson/Trusler and it's a 5 min walk from the parking garage. There's a pool too. But other than that those are the only perks. If you have a car and plan on driving off campus alot and you want a place to conveniently park your car go for those dorms. Personally, I enjoy living close to the parking lot and the dorms are pretty quiet. Because it is a 10-15 min walk to my classes I just take the bus to Hub and walk from there to class.

I suggest Tolbert area, they have alot more community organized activities like the Mudfest. Tolbert Area is next to Trusler (Graham Area). You can park your car in the Simpson parking lot and attend all those activities. If you plan on getting a meal plan and living on campus, Gator Dining is right next to Tolbert and it's a 5 min walk to the Reitz Union.

I fully agree UE. Tolbert area is by far the best for location. Graham area (Graham, Trusler, and Simpson) is nice for parking, but the only building close by is the Physics building and MAE-B. Yulee is nice, but I cannot stand the rooms. They are all very small and its right by 13th street. Murphree area is awesome for rooms and the Chemistry buildings, but its also very expensive. I lived in Buckman my freshman year and had fun, but its not for the faint at heart. Springs, Lakeside and Keys are nice and quiet, but far from actual campus. Hope this all helps.
