Dear ________________,
I am writing to let you know that you are a "likely" candidate for admissions to Dartmouth. We expect to offer you admission to Dartmouth later in the fall when admissions letters are mailed. The purpose of this reading on your application is to enabe you to be clear about your status at Dartmouth as you consider your college options.

Let me take this opportunity to say how pleased we are at the prospect of your becoming a Dartmouth student. you have established a strong record of personal and academic success thus far in your high aschool career, and your status as a "likely" candidate assumes that you'll continue and believe that Dartmouth is an excellent math for your iterests.

Sincerely,

Hi MeisterRama,

Did you apply ED or RD to Dartmouth?

Don’t feed the trolls. With the exception of recruited athletes, likely letters do not come out until the RD cycle

That’s what I thought. Thanks.

Yes I did apply ED and I am a recruited athlete. I didn’t mean to sounds bragadocious, if I did I am sorry. I was told I would get the LL early October, but it didn’t come so when it finally did come on the last day of October–I couldn’t contain myself.

It was actaully my first post. I look forward to sharing Dartmouth stories with you all out there. About the LL, I thought the wording was interesting…“you’ll continue to succeed at a high level in the coming year.”

I guess I had better not get any bad grades in second semester of high school!

I had looked at other Ivy’s and fell in love with Dartmouth the second I got off the little plane in Lebanon. It was such a small plane that I got to sit in the cockpit with the pilot. Since then I have taken the Dartmouth shuttle for visits to campus and that was great too. I had always thought I’d go to a much bigger school. I had visited to many schools, being dragged along with older siblings to their visits.

I did my official visit a few weeks ago. I met the team, and the seniors seemed heartbroken at the thought of having to leave Dartmouth. They ALL said that it has been the best 4 years of their lives. They said they have friends at other Ivy’s, and although they are all happy at their schools, they sense that the Dartmouth students are having hands down “the time of theirs lives” type of remarkable experiences…

Congratulations, meister. For the benefit of those attempting to assess their chances, would you be willing to share your stats? (Not enough info to identify you, of course!)

GPA is 101.8
SAT super score 2000
