So I logged onto my UCSD tritonlink account and it said I had a hold on my account so I looked and it said this.

Administrative cancellation of admission. Student should contact the Undergraduate Admissions Office, (858) 534-4831 or in person for information.

I don't get why, my transcripts all are shown as arriving on time and as far as I can tell I reported all information accurately.

The only issue I see is under my transcripts it lists the wrong high school, I took JROTC at a different high school then I graduated from, I sent in my transcript from the school I graduated from as when I saw my unofficial transcript from them it listed the class I took at the other high school on it. But as I said it lists the name of the school I only took one class at. Do you guys think this could be whats causing this as I had my IGETC certified and got a 4.0 my last semester so I'm pretty sure I'm not being rescinded on academic grounds. Well another issue might be is I said I was taking 2 classes when I applied in fall, but I took two different classes instead in the spring but I did list the correct classes on my application update in January so I don't think that should be a problem.

It's weird they didn't send me an e-mail or anything it just says I have a hold on my account and that it is admission cancellation.

we’re not gonna know why. Call them…

yeah call them asap first thing monday morning

yeah I am and I’m going to e-mail as well… I’m really lost here as I don’t think I’ve made any mistakes, but we’ll see.

I think the problem is that you need each high school you attended, even if it was for only one class, to submit a seperate official transcript of the courses you did there to USCD. Having the fact that you took a class at a different high school from the one you graduated from noted on the transcript that you had your high school submit to UCSD might not have been sufficient.

If this is the case I have no idea whether UCSD is going to consider it a minor oversight and will reinstate you as soon as they receive an official transcript from the other high school you took a course at or if it will be considered a major problem that can not be easily remedied.

Well that may be the case but both high schools were from the same town and in the same school district so all my coursework in high school should be on the same official transcript (I picked up an unofficial transcript as well and it lists the class I took at the other school and clearly shows the name of both schools). The weird thing is I sent in my transcript from the high school I graduated (it even said the name on the envelope) but it lists the other high school on my transcript received section online.

If I understand you correctly, USCD is saying that the only official transcript they have from you and is in your records is the high school where you took only one course but does not have list the name of the high school you actually graduated from.

The admission office may now be in the process of actually verifying transcripts for accepted students and if they believe their records show they have only received one official transcript for you and it is from a school where you only took one class it is naturally going to be very confusing to them. Probably the reason they list the names of the transcripts they have received on their web site is so that if there are any errors you will know right away so you can have them corrected as soon as possible. If it has been a long time since they first listed the name of the wrong school on their web site as the one you graduated from they may be suspicious as to why you did not take immediate steps to correct the misunderstanding. This could be why they simply rescinded you rather than first asking for some clarification.

Oh man. I just checked as well and the same thing happened. The only thing I can think of is the transcripts being RECEIVED on 7/19/2010 four days after the deadline but I called admissions and they told me it had to be postmarked by July 15th which I am sure I did also.

Other than that, grades are good and everything! I hope this is just a mistake…otherwise I’m in trouble,

They only showed they received my high school transcript yesterday, as it was Saturday I haven’t been able to do anything about it. I’m pretty sure this is the reason why as the hold on my account showed up the same time my transcript did. Hopefully I can sort this out when I call them tomorrow morning.

Maybe you calculated your GPA wrong or maybe typed it in wrong? I know that last year my brother was rescinded because he didn’t say that he received a couple of C’s in non-transferable classes and that he needed to retake a math class because he received a bad grade… So they are pretty strict when it comes to these kind of things…

^ Well I was very thorough when double checking my information before I submitted my application, it was all correct and complete). When I sent my application in the fall I said I was going to take classes that were different then what I ended up taking, though I did list the correct classes on the application update and they finished IGETC thus meeting the conditions of my TAG (and IGETC was received by UCSD).

Im sure its just a mistake. These things will be sorted out tomorrow morning and if they aren’t then I’m bout’ to throw a fit on behalf of both of us.

Hmmm… Yeah man, I have no idea what it could be then. I did the same thing though; I at first thought I was taking certain classes but then changed my mind before the update application. I checked my TritonLink and there didn’t seem to be any kind of lock on it… Maybe and hopefully its a mistake or it can be resolved easily…

I think I have the same problem…because I attended two different high schools, and only sent one transcript with grades from both schools…they probably want transcripts from both schools! What happened did you call the admissions office?

Talked to admissions and it was actually a problem with a CC transcript, the high school stuff was fine.

I took one automotive class at College of Marin at the Indian Valley College campus. When I filled out the application I searched for College of Marin and one of the options was for Indian Valley College, since this was the closest option to where I went I picked it. I picked up my transcript from the office at the campus I took the class at and sent it in. The transcript is technically from College of Marin and they expected one from Indian Valley College and didn’t get one so they cancelled my admission. I have to submit a formal appeal to try to get back in .

@UCeric2010 damn…good luck on the appeal

@boomx1 dont u just need to submit a final transcript from the school you graduated from? lol its not like you retook 9th grade over again at your new school right? damn…

Hey UCeric…similar thing happened to me. So I guess I confused the DROP and WITHDRAW deadlines for my Calculus class in the spring so I received a withdraw to my surprise when i checked yesterday. I too spoke with the admissions rep and he said my only option would be to write an appeal letter. I wrote the letter yesterday and sent it express mail (which cost $15). Hopefully things go well for the both of us. In my opinion, both cases are minor and they SHOULD be resolved. Its a bummer we were notified so late about such small things. No call or EMAIL was sent…but nonetheless it was my fault because I was supposed to report the academic changes I really just forgot because of family issues…etc. I really hope they reconsider…I will be devestated otherwise.

One question though…
So if they do rescind my admission permanently do I get my $650 transfer housing deposit? If I don’t thats some BS and I will be furious.

UCeric2010: did they say anything about your chances of getting back in? it seems like such a petty issue for you to have to appeal…

@dpen: I do believe you get the full 650 back if your admission is cancelled.

@UCtransferhope: the admissions guy I talked to said I should be fine as what happened was clearly an innocent mistake, but you never know.
