UCSD Rescind?

Hi guys,

I just got an e-mail yesterday saying that UCSD never got my high school transcript therefore my acceptance has been cancelled. I called the admissions office today and according to the recorded message, it said that as long as they receive my transcript within 7 business days of the notice, my cancellation will be withdrawn. However, when I spoke to someone they said I had to go through an appeals process.

I had sent my transcript in by the deadline and when I realized it had not been received, I went to go re-send it. When I looked at a copy of the transcript, I noticed a grade had not yet been changed (my teacher said he would change my D in Calculus to a C if I passed the AP test like I did). Therefore, I've been trying to contact my teacher in effort to get it changed before re-sending the transcript.

So, yeah. I'm confused and worried sick. I really cannot afford to be rescinded. Does anyone have any advice or past experience to help ease my nerves??? I know I'm at fault here, so please spare me... I don't think I can handle if I beat myself up more.

Thank you.

I’m sorta in the same boat, except that I got rescinded because they never received my transcripts, but I have proof that I sent it in TWICE before the deadline, so it should be fine…I hope. It would be really ■■■■■■■■ if they still rescinded me. But anyway, if your teacher DOES change your grade, you would then still need to go through the appeals process. You were rescinded because they never got your transcript, so you should prepare documents proving that you sent them in on time. If your school district sent them, you should ask them for the tracking or receipt, as they usually send transcripts via certified mail. You would then need to write a note explaining what happened. I wouldn’t put how you had to wait until your teacher changed your grade before you sent it, because you don’t want them knowing about that D. Good luck to you and I hope we can pull through together!

Is your teacher allowed to change your grade because you passed an AP test? Teachers at my school in the past have done it but now the principal says its not allowed so they wont do it anymore.

Looks like others are in the same boat.

I’m in the same boat as stpatricks14. UCSD never received my transcript either but I also have proof and a letter from my school’s principal that the transcript was sent on time. Also, I’m not sure if most schools really do send it by certified mail since my school did not and they didn’t have a tracking number for my transcript. Go to your school and ask for anything that you could use in your appeal package. Best of luck to all of us.

I also had a missing transcript issue and I sent in my letter of appeal as well as a copy of my school’s “request to send transcript” form…I’m hoping it will prove that I took the necessary steps to get my transcript sent, except my school failed in doing so. But my question is:
Has anyone heard back from the admissions office? If so, how long did it take for them to reply or did they simply remove the hold in your account?
I also wish the best to everyone because I know from my personal experience that this news was extremely devastating…

They received my appeal last friday, but I havent heard back yet. The website said it would take approximately 10 days for a reply

Admissions reinstated my admission on Monday which was exactly 10 biz days from when they received my appeal. The key thing to check is your TritonLink b/c they update that when they put the letter stating their decision in the mail. It’s also not a bad idea to check in with admissions on the 7 and 10 biz day marks. But, if you don’t call in right @ 8:30a PST it’s going to be impossible to talk to somebody in admissions.

Best of luck to you!

I was reinstated today, four days after they received my appeal! If your checklist appears on your tritonlink again, that’s when you know you have been reinstated! Best of luck to you all. P.S. It still does not show that my transcripts have been received, but I think they will update that later on. The transcript office at ucsd is rather sloww.

I was also reinstated yesterday! I was unsure at first because my TritonLink said I had no holds but when I checked MyApplication, the appeals process was still there. I checked again this morning and found the checklist so I was finally relieved.
Thanks a lot everyone! It feels a bit reassuring knowing that you’re not alone in this issue…not that I would wish this upon anyone, though. :)
