I'm only 5'2" and I'm 16.... :/

How do people grow taller?
Does playing basketball have any effect?
Sleep?
Nutrition?
Fresh air?

You're pretty much screwed. It is possible to break your legs, seperate the bones and then grow like an additional inch.

Drink craploads of milk and you might get a few more inches.

i'm not sure about the other factors, but playing basketball will definitely help you become taller...

... how does basketball make you taller?

Drink milk and sleep a lot.

Does swimming help much?

Swimmers all seem to be pretty lanky
and they always end up getting a growth spurt even after they think they've stopped growing.
Has there been any research done on this?

swimmers are lanky because tall people swim faster but swimming doesn't make you taller. Actually swimming competitvely when you're younger actually stunts your growth (I think it has something to do with muscle development...gymnastics has the same effect).

Same thing with basketball I think... playing bball doesn't make you tall, it's just that tall people play bball.

Have you ever had a growth spurt?

are you a guy or a girl?

No one's ever happy with their height. Hell, I'm 6'0" and want to be taller. You really can't change it, though. Height is largely genetic. You really have no control over it. Blame your parents, accept your shortness, and move on.

I'm 5'2" and a half and I'm almost 17 and I hate it. However; I'm doubting I will miraculously hit a growth spurt. One of my friends (girl) is 6'2" and when she had her growth plates checked she is still expected to grow atleast a few more inches.

I hope I grow a little bit more. I'm 6' now, and I want to get to around 6'3" or 6'4".

^ I want you to, too. Hehehe.

And for the record, some people are happy with their height. Like me. But if I grew a bit more I wouldn't be upset.

I'm just tall enough to be considered "tall" for a female, but not so tall that I have to deal with a lot of feminine-related height issues.

andrea, i'm a girl

A lot of guys like short girls, though. So it isn't so terrible if you're 5'2...

Doesn't matter. Being short and a girl has much fewer ramifications than on males.

I want to grow taller too. Stuck at 5;9-10" and 17 yrs old. :( Does milk really help?

Yeah, I really feel sorry for short guys.

I don't think there's anything you can do to make yourself grow.
