I'm 5'2", too. If you round up, I'm 5'3".
I'm over it, though.
You just have to OWN your short stature. Heheh.

emm..how to grow taller? just write that phrase in google, I'msure ur get lots of advices...some works, a lot doesn't. But usu: just keep healthy, (sleep well, exercise, etc. etc.)
basketball, swimming: these games can very likely help.
CYCLING really works. (at least what I've heard and stuffs).

I'm almost 18 and a slight 5'3", but since I'm pretty loud and have a "big presence" people always think I'm like 5'6"... Just make yourself known and no one will even know!

I've also learned to walk in killer high-heels, haha...

Yeah, some people have big personalities, and that makes them look taller.

im stuck at 5' 8 and im 15. i really want to get to 6 feet, but i doubt its going to happen.

Don't ever wear heels to compensate. It will only make you look like you're trying to hide the fact that you're short. And that's unattractive.

I'm containing myself on this thread, because I'm tempted to say insulting things. But I absolutely will not, because I am feeling sympathetic, SO! That is the advice I can offer.

i used to think it was possible to grow taller. i did visualization and i wanted to buy those kimi shoes... im so glad i didn't. pilates doesn't actually make you taller (unless you ahve horrible posture) but after doing it a few times every week everyone told me i looked taller. also i stopped jogging (compressed my spine) and started swimming.

Ugh. I hate short people with "big" personalities.

The average woman is 5'3". So, you're not as short as you think that you are.

Okay, Joli HAUTEUR, I get it. You're tall. It's fine if you're proud of that fact... But could you please not act as though shortness is a personality disorder, or something DISGUSTING that we could have prevented if we had wanted to? =)

I'm sorry. I didn't actually say anything insulting in here though, because the OP is genuinely concerned and asking for advice. And I literally made an effort to contain myself.

I know height isn't something within one's control. So I'll "cool it" with the "anti-short" comments. Or I'll continue making an effort.

a) I'm pretty sure the average woman is 5'5" (at least in the US?), but I could be wrong about that. 5'3" definitely seems on the low side for the average woman's height.

And... I beat all of you in shortness. :) <---4'11.5". I couldn't get that last little 1/2 inch to make 5'. :'(

I don't have a big personality. But I'm very tiny and like I said round up to 5'3" ish. I don't like it. I wear heels a lot. But not really to compensate but because I like heels; I think tennis shoes are uncomfortable, and well I like cute shoes. Plus it makes me a lil taller but. Even if tennisshoes made me 4 inches taller, I'd pick 4inch normal heels.

I'm not terribly uncomfortable with it. But I'd be happier being taller but. And honestly I don't think wearing heels (granted I'm a girl who wears them but) makes females in general unattractive. I wear them and everyone knows I wear them but I'm not trying to "hide" anything.

So does that mean tall females that wear heels (ie: SUPERMODELS whom some guys fantasize about, and many other notable people) do so because their bragging? Does that make them overconfident and unattractive? Does that make them look like they are trying to rub it in the face of other people? No. I think that makes them appear more confident. So is it a double standard that tall people can wear heels and be taller but short people can only wear flats to make them appear shorter?

shrubber, how tall are your parents?

Rule of thumb, you grow for about a year after puberty. My D has been 5' 3" since puberty 8years ago. She is now a junior in college and she grew an inch this past year! Go figure! She doe wear heals when she goes out, has great legs and the heels enhance the look.
My S was about 4'10'' when he entered h.s. about 5' 2" when he graduated and then had growth spurt and now measures in at about 5'10"
I guess we are late blomers. Genetics is important, but we tend to be taller than our parents.
Best advice, embrace who you are and enjoy...consider this, most boys will be taller than you!

jc, i have heard that too but i am not sure if it is true. i started my period when i was ten, and i have definitely grown since i was eleven. i think maybe it was true in past generations, but since our generation starts earlier, maybe it doesn't hold anymore. i don't know.

right. i think this is a definite benefit of being smaller (i am five three - five fourish). sometimes taller girls can look big and bulky, and they can be sort of husky looking....i think it looks more feminine to be shorter. just my opinion, though. i like my height.

"How do people grow taller?"

Im 5'9", and people ask me this question almost everyday.
I've seen ads for shoe soles that can make one grow taller...do they really work?

andrea,
my mother is around 5'2"
and my dad is like... 5'9" ish?

Ha, I wasn't offended. The "=)" was meant to show that...

If your mom is 5'2", that's probably as tall as you're going to get. Sorry!

According to the National Center for Health Statistics, the average height for an adult female in the United States is:
63.8 inches, or 5 feet 3.8 inches

Proportion and confidence matter more than height.

And I think it mostly depends on genetics. There's no quick and easy way to grow.

I really love fashion. Fashion is a lot about proportion. And the same goes for heels--the longer your legs (and generally, the taller you are) the higher of heel you can wear. The shorter your legs are (and generally, the shorter you are) the shorter of heel you can pull off.

Of course not everyone is going to follow proportional fashion guidelines. But if you think about it, it makes a lot of sense.
