Think about proportion. You'll see what I mean.

"I really love fashion. Fashion is a lot about proportion. And the same goes for heels--the longer your legs (and generally, the taller you are) the higher of heel you can wear. The shorter your legs are (and generally, the shorter you are) the shorter of heel you can pull off.

Of course not everyone is going to follow proportional fashion guidelines. But if you think about it, it makes a lot of sense."

Okay. good point that does make sense. I happen to have rather long legs for being as short as I am. (I have the hardest issue with buying pants and them fitting but being too short etc). I mean of course my legs aren't as long as someone who is 5'7" or 6'0" or something, but they're long for my height and always have been. Which is another reason I like them because I always was told they made my legs look nicer.. Anyways

weird thing for me is that at 12-13yrs old i was 5'6.5. Now i am 5'8. I am a male. I don't really think i had a growth spurt, unless i had one while i was like 11. My parents are short, but my uncle is 6'3 and i look a lot like him. He is bascially like a 6'3 version of me. hope i still grow. i just turned 17. yeah and my hand and feet are as big as most people who are 6'2, and my legs are very long, really small torso. weird hope i grow more.

So sleep or lie down 10 hours staight each day. Also drink milk.

How tall are your parents?

Are you a boy or a girl? MOre critical for a boy.

We get our growth spurts late in my family. Start to grow around age 15. I even grew 2 inches at age 19, but not in my legs, where the growth plates had closed.

Good luck.

Oh, lifting weights in high school slows growth. My son did that and he is as tall as his sister, 6'1". Yeah, with 3 sisters hovering around 6 feet, he should have been 6'4" like my brother. But that lifting weights in high school thing. Oh, well.

^ Yeah, 'cause the goal is to be tall and scrawny.

5 Ways To Grow Taller

You can take growth hormone pill if you are desperate, but you need a doctor's prescription first.

Joli.Hauteur-- I only wear high heels for fancy things... I'm not one of those girls who stalks around in wedges at school.

LesOs-- that sucks that you "hate" short people with "big" personalities. You'll miss out on a lot of good people that way.

I'm only 5'
You've just gotta embrace it...it's not something you're going to be able to significantly change.

I love wearing heels. not because i'm insecure about my height or anything, but there are some adorable heels out there. for example the ones i'm ordering right now! (exciteeeed!)
http://images.delias.com//152815_wht_g.jpg
but I wear my fair share of flats as well.
quicktip: pointy toes elongate the leg

anyway, height is more crucial to guys than girls I think. I don't see what the big problem is with being petite. Your personality, intelligence, talent, and beauty should all make more of a statement than height. I can't tell you how many people are shocked when you inform them that a celebrity is short.

Just the other day I was talking to one of my guy friends who simply refused to believe that Hayden Pannetierre is only ~5'ish, haha
and Joli, I think Hayden pulls off her heels just fine

it's more a matter of confidence and how you walk in them. If you're short and wear 4" heels and stumble around in them awkwardly, obviously that isn't going to lok good. But a pair of cute pumps worn confidently can make an outfit, regardless of height.

Actually, there are ways to grow taller before the age of 20 without injecting yourself with hormones...I know all the secrets, some sound more maverick than others but all have more credibility than any of the "positives" (LOL) THC supposedly has according to the "omg weed is good for you" advocates.

lol...some call it stretching..others call it prayer... ;)

piccolojunior, what are these secrets that you speak of? :)

Hmmph. I obviously like personality. I'm not very compatible with "bland" people with "safe" personalities. What I mean is that there is definitely a type of short girl- the annoyingly bubbly, sassy, "LOOK AT ME! I'M SO CUTE! I'M 'FUN-SIZED!'" girl- that just gets on my nerves. You KNOW what I'm talking about.

I agree that petite (the word "short" looks so ugly) people can definitely pull off heels. It's obnoxious when shorter people wear enormous heels... but a pair with a lower heel can add a bit of height and look very nice.

I'm actually getting a pair of these "hidden wedge" shoes to wear with my new skinny jeans...
www.dELiAs.com
They'll add height... but it won't be obvious that that's my intent.

Like those little candy bars. I don't like candy bars, though.

I know who you're talking about.

Also, Les, BEWARE...Delia's makes some of the most uncomfortable shoes on the planet. I bought a pair of peep-toe silver flats for New Years last year and they hurt SO bad. They're really cheaply made.

Urban Outfitters has better flats, and they're comfortable.

I like flats. Not to wear, though.

I like them, too. But not as much as heels.

Flats look so ridiculous with any skirt/dress that isn't super-short, though. So ridiculous.

I browsed through that site that Les showed us. Some of their shoes are really ugly.

Delia's?

Yeah. I know.

Like this, for instance.

HAHAHA.

Oh no.

If I could find this pair of shoes I saw at Urban Outfitters 5+ years ago, I would buy them in a nanosecond. They were the BEST ever, but I was too young at the time and my mom said I would never wear them.

They were Sweet'n'Low shoes...they were that shade of pink, and on the toes they had the Sweet'n'Low label across both shoes. Cutest ever, and now I can't find them anywhere.
