my friend who got a 1200 sat1 mid 400's on all 3 sats no school activities or outside volunteering got into UCSD</p>
<p>oh and another friend of mine got rejected from everywhere except riverside and berkeley , yeah that says something about the uc system</p>
<p>my friend w/ 1100 SAT mid 500 on all SAT got into UCLA =) nothing special. i did more extra stuff than he did.</p>
<p>Yeah it's a silly and bureaucratic system but that's what you get for being able to get a UC education for relatively cheap. Living in California is great.</p>
<p>School sucks, relax. There is a lot more to the application than even GPA and test scores, such as how you present the ECs, the essays, the difficulty of courses taken, and much, much more. There are many possibilities about your friend, such as some terrible family circumstance or something.</p>
<p>um...my friend's sister wrote his essay for him about something that isn't even true (that situation is true for me but i didnt write about it, instead i wrote about an illness that was sadder). The only things he had was: low income, his sisters graduated from UCLA, his parents did'nt go to college.
but still nothing was really from him. sux like that. oh well he's my good friend =)</p>

<p>Schoolsucks UCI and UCSD are pretty much the same UCI is still a good school don't worry about it</p>
<p>They have their strengths and weaknesses, and ucsd is considered stronger, but uci has it's gems and is overall good.</p>

<p>oh yeah i forgot to mention that my friend who got into ucsd with mid 400 sat2's lied about his families income
he made it so it looked like his parents made barely any money by having all there paychecks go under his oldest sisters name
so it looked like a family of 8 was living off 20,000 ish a year
but in reality they own 3 porsches, one of which he frequently drives to school</p>
<p>So your friends are dishonest and need to lie to get into UCSD. that is sad. It's possible to cheat many of the systems in the world, but rather dishonest. Do you approve of his actions?</p>

<p>I could've gotten into all UCs if I applied undeclared instead of Computer Science (UCLA and UCB were the only that rejected me.)</p>
<p>And yes, you can transfer from UC to UC. Just make sure you have a good GPA.</p>

<p>UCSB is selective these days. Highest rate of increase in applicants, with an incoming avg freshmen GPA of 3.99.</p>
<p>I think it's pretty common to get rejected at various mid tier UCs and accepted at others. I got rejected at Davis and Irvine but not at SB.</p>
