I have a 3.0gpa 1140SAT 580 verbal 560 math, I have rowed for my high school crew team for 4 years, a competitive club crew team last summer. I was a member of Key Club first 2 years, a member of ski club all 4 years, have volunteered with my church for 2 years. I want to go somewhere warm by the ocean like Southern Florida area or Southern California area. Any suggestions for schools?

Some ideas and my opinions:
University of San Diego = Slight Reach
San Diego State University = Slight Reach/Match (out of state)
California State University - LA = Match
There are more privates and Cali States, but that's all I can think of right now

I also know there is a university called University of So. Flordia, but I have no clue how competitive it is...might want to look into it.

What grade are you in?

I am a senior right now I have already applied to schools in the Northeast and gotten in to Temple and University of Vermont. I want to expand my horizons a bit and go for some warm weather

cool, yeah i'm not really sure which schools are matches or reaches but do you want publics or privates? size? I live in so. cal so I can give you some ideas.

I want medium to large schools it doesn't matter if they're public or private but preferably public

USF isn't competitive at all, but it isn't exactly in South Florida; its in Tampa. Try Florida International University which is near/in Miami.

FIU, NOVA Southeastern, Florida Atlantic University, Florida Tech. - All in South Florida, All I'm pretty sure you'd get into. Also look at U-Houston, it's in a warm climate and on the Houston is right near the coast. Check out U-West Florida, it's in Pensacola and I'm pretty sure you'd get in. Lastly, check out U-New Orleans.

One question, why south florida? The whole state is steaming hot, it's not like central florida is going to suddenly be freezing.

Hey!
Your stats are almost the same as mine...
If you want to go somewhere warmer, Florida is the place.

Living in Miami, I can tell you the weather doesn't get much better than here in the United States. Summers here CAN get hot, but there is always a slight breeze in the air to keep you from drowning in your sweat. I promise, it really isn't that bad compared to upstate.

My sis goes to University of Florida and it gets humid out there... for one its more of that bothersome kind of heat that you feel when you breathe. But that's only mainly during the summer. Contrary to popular belief, that area does get cooler during the winters... reaching the 40's at times during the winter. In Miami during winter you get a week, maybe two on and off during the winter of temperatures in the 40-50s. But that is normally as low as it gets. ;) [Ahh... paradise.. lol.]

Florida offers a lot of good schools like UF and UM. I wouldn't look at FIU personally... the smarter people here make fun of it for being the college where high school drop-outs, spanish people who want to live close to their families, and aliens go.

try UM or UF. also look at UCF in orlando or FSU in tallahassee. hope this helps! ;)
