I understand exactly how excited you all must be right now and rightfully so. On behalf of Brown and the PLME I’d like to welcome you and would love to answer any questions/concerns you might have If you have no questions just say hi!

Welcome to the greatest program on Earth.

Are results out yet? I think the deadline is in January…

I’m so thrilled! I look forward to being at Brown and eventually Alpert! PLME 2016!!

Applicants find out with their normal application, i.e. early applicants found out with their early application and RD applicants find out ~April 1st I believe

Welcome!!! Don’t hesitate to ask if you ever think of a question!!! You can’t imagine how lucky you really are until you come here in the Fall!

PLMERep
Do you know how many PLMEers are accepted in ED? And how many are deferred?
Thanks

What kind of med/science-centered ECs did you guys do? I need to figure out how to make my deferral and acceptance…

Hi, PLMERep,

How is your stat ? could you share ?

I did theatre EC’s and science club with the Lemelson-MIT Program.Try to do EC’s that vary so that they think you’ll use the liberal aspect. I volunteered and shadowed at the hospital.

I do have a question PLMERep!

My friends and teachers are completely polarized on whether I should take my classes pass/fail or with the normal grading system because it doesn’t really matter.

I feel like it would be better to just go with the grading system, right? Also, how many of your classes did you make science oriented? I’m trying to get some theatre courses in, but mainly get the science stuff in as well.

Hello, PLMERep. I am deferred by PLME. If I send one more recommendation letter and my art supplements, will that help?

Popcharlie93:

You’ll get much more information about this when you get to Brown and meet with your PLME advising dean. You can also go on the PLME website and look at the current academic handbook - you wil be required to take a number of science and math courses.

In general, the advice seems to be to take the majority of your classes for a grade, and I think this is what the majority of us do. For example, I tend to take one class per semester S/NC - this is usually a class that’s way out of my comfort zone.

MEbrown:
How do you know if you were deferred to the school or the program? bc i was deferred, but i want to know if i atleast meet Brown requirements

my offer said so

MEbrown
Was u accepted by brown and defered by PLME? or both are deferred?

^PopCharlie…I really wouldn’t worry about that right now. But yes thats part of the beauty of PLME. Most people I know take most of their classes for grades because theres no stress regardless of grading option choice, but there are plenty of kids who take at least one course S/NC. Also, I’m a PLME who gets yelled at for forgetting the “L” in PLME (Liberal), but do eventually plan to embrace my unique opportunity for liberal learning!

^Dr. Greenhead want kinda info do you want? Happy to give in a private message! Let me know.

Only deferred by PLME

Hi, PLMERep:

How many APs you took ? How is your SATscore, and clubs, extra activity ? thanks.

Hi Guys!

I’m actually a junior in high school right now, but I’m already looking towards applying for the PLME program at Brown.

My question is this: Can you apply to other medical schools AND MAINTAIN your spot in Brown’s Med. school while doing so?

Thank you very much for your time!

Hi Bioboy,

No, you can’t. That’s new starting with the PLME class of 2015/2019. If you apply out for med school, you lose your spot in your PLME class. However, you would be able to attend Alpert, just at least a year behind the class you entered with.

hey guys! do any of you know whether the two questions for the plme app have to be answered in two different essays, or just one essay?
