Would it be better to have my IGETC finished by the time I apply (so basically by summer prior to fall when I will apply) or have my Pre-Requisites finished? Also, (I am trying to apply to UCLA and Cal fyi) would I be in a disadvantage if were NOT to finish one (IGETC or Pre-Requisites) or the two for UCLA or Cal by the time I apply?

Majors are I am looking into are international studies and political science.

Pre-reqs are more important for sure, unless you’re applying to UCSD… which you’re not so don’t worry about it. No it’s not that big of a deal as everyone thinks if you don’t finish one or two at the time to apply, or even when it’s time to transfer. I think there is a thread on here where users posted where they got accepted and how many pre-reqs they were missing. Surprisingly, the majority of people were missing quite a few. Some even as much as 6 and still got accepted.

Oh btw. You don’t need to have them completed by application time just before you transfer (Spring for pre reqs, and can finish IGETC in summer).

It’s better to get as much done as you can, but of course you can’t overload yourself. Finish by Spring, get the IGETC certified and everything should be fine.

well the thing is then, it is merely impossible to finish the pre-reqs for international studies, because it requires you to take like 4 semesters of a language. What if I’ll be able to get my IGETC done and all of pre-reqs for international studies except for the language, am I in good hands as people who might have finished all of the pre-reqs??
