I transfered from UT to a CC in california about a little more than a year ago. I was working with a counsler to satisfy the IGETC requirements, but recently a different counsler told me that I could not get certified because majority of my classes were taken out of state. I am now at the point where I have met the requirements, but since more than 50% of my classes were taken in texas I will not be certified. I already got admitted into UCSB, so my question is; is this going to be a problem?

bump. would really like some help!

You have to ask UCSB directly . Right now there assuming you’ll have the IGETC done . As long as your not TAG you may be ok( if your TAG its more complex since IGETC is apart of being a TAG student) . But make sure your 2 English classes and your math fulfill the transfer requirements . Theirs a small chance that one of English classes might turn into an elective or somthing crazy like that so just make sure to ask .

Good luck.

One last note , ultimately this is all up to UCSB , they will decide if not having your igetc is cool .

UCSB doesn’t verify his IGETC, his CC does.

Hmm I have a small part of my IGETC covered by 4-yr classes and when I first went to my CC, my counselor was like… “for IGETC okay you already have math… check… you fulfilled your social science etc check”. I actually ended up taking additional classes so my IGETC is over fulfilled but I hope it’s not a problem for you. If anything, even if they void yours, if your UT classes transfer directly to UCSB and fulfill their lower division requirements, I can’t imagine it would be a problem? But good luck.

Grimes
I was saying that since they wont give him IGETC at his CC its up to UCSB to see if they’ll take him without IGETC

Ah, gotcha. Carry on.

thanks for the responses! I know that my critical thinking didnt transfer because california has a strict policy that it has to be taken at a college in california, also another english class did turn out to be an elective, but my AP lit i took in highschool took care of that. I am going to call today and find out what will happen. thanks again guys!
