Next year I may or may not be attending OSU. It is between tOSU and Ithaca. I want to know a few things and I figured where better to find an answer than myspace?! I’m a 17 yr old male from Wooster, OH who has beena huge Buckeye fan his entire life.

Which is the best dorms: north, south, or towers?

What makes OSU the place to be? Not the place to be?

How easily did you adjust from high school?

Was it easy for you to make friends? What were your ice breakers and places to meet people, specifically girls?

How easy was it for you to get in? What do you think the most important parts on the application were?

ACT/SAT Scores?

I think I’ll be majoring in some sort of Advertising, Visual Design, Communications type major? (I’d like to either work for a broadcast center or have a business which incorporates designing things digitally: ie. designing the college recruiting brochures you get in the mail)) Is anyone involved in this sort of major? What is the foundation of it and how it is going?

Well Im a senior in high school and I got accepted into OSU. I as well might be attending OSU. Im just waiting on U Miami to make a final decision.
Answering ur questions:
1: from the research ive done, I would say South. If u like historic looking buildings south if for u. suggestion, Mack Hall. SOuth is closer to all the action (High St Bars and restaurants, THE RPAC awesome rec center, the shopping center on high st and most important, ur first year classes.)
2. OSU from what i have seen is a big school so therefor it provides everythign uc an imagine. all the clubs, activities etc u can imagine. It has an amazing school spirit and traditions where everyone is proud and loves to be a Buckeye. Its campus is said to be quite nice with what i like to call various districts. The historic district (all the 200 or so year old buildings which have lots of culture and history), the Engineering and busines dirstrict (amazing array of modern post contemporary buildings which compare to those of GA Tech.) The sports distric (RPAC) and finally the medical district (all the high rise medical buildings making OSU the largest medical center in the nation, totally true).
3. dont know how easy is it to make friends but with the largest student body in US, if you dont find someone to hang out with, ur unfortunately a knut case. so yes u sould make friends.
4. I applied and I got in. I submitted an Essay, and three excellent letters of reccommendation. I always advice ppl to submit letters. I had a 3.0 Gpa in a very tough school and a 1680 on the SAT so I was a solid student with lots of extra factors such as living in 5 countrie, excellent essay, 3 letters etc..
Overall admissions is not a brain buster but its not easy either, just show them u really want to go.

When u apply to increase ur chances state an easier major such as Agribusiness management and applied economics rather then Business or engineering. They say it really dosnt matter but trust me it does. I know kids with similar stats to myn tht put their intedned major and got rejected. Dont ask my why but it happened and thats my best guess. Now that i got accepted i changed my major without any problems :D!

Ok MTB I did not take the ACT. However a 1700 on SAT is sort of like getting a 25 or 26 on the ACT. Well, first of all, OSU does take the SAT into account and it is a big factor. But so are your grades. To be honest, SAT is more important. I know several ppl with 3.5's and not so good SAT scores that got flat out rejected.
I would say minimum 3.0 GPA. and Minimum 24 ACT. if u get 24 ACT and 3.0 GPA send a great essay and about2 or 3 letters. that shows u are really commited and you are very well regarded in ur school.
If u get a 24+ on the ACT and 3.5 and above. just send that in and u should be fine.

Look, OSU has stats that look scary. I predict they will post scarier stats next year. However just because ur not in the range for ACT and or GPA does not mean u wont get in. they do take into account essays, letters, resumes, Extra curriculars and in my case my multi cultural experience and geographic location (have lived in 5 countries). OSU dosnt only want good students but interesting students that stand out among the other applicants. I suggest u make urself stand out with letters and stuff like that.
GOODS LUCK!

I also read on another site that OSU requires you to send in the Writing portion of the ACT if you take it. I signed up for the no writing section... bad choice on my part?

Acarta, I wouldn't advise posting "cutoff stats" unless you are an admissions officer. The last paragraph of your post is correct, because there IS no cutoff. My girlfriend was not even in the top 25% of her class and still got into honors with a 30 ACT. Her GPA isn't great, and that ACT score is not unusual for honor students (and frequently non-honor students), so I have no idea how that happened. Granted, if you are below average with all your stats and have no extracurriculars to speak of, don't get your hopes up.

People with a 3.5 GPA and 24 ACT (or better) are getting rejected left and right, so please don't make people they are a shoe-in with that. Many of my friends have been shocked that their "safety school" rejected them, and OSU is sending out letters to guidance counselors to prepare them for a different selection process this year.

If OSU rejects you, you are still an amazing person, don't worry!

mtb, OSU didn't do a thing in regards to my application until my new ACT scores, my only time with writing, were submitted. The writing score isn't significant in reference to where one stands for Fall '07 admissions. OSU is planning on using the scores to figure where they should weigh the writing portion in future admissions, though.
