Alright I’m flying out to OSU from CA in March. Anyone who has visited or are current/former students have any ideas or things that I have to see or do while I’m there?!? Whats the lifestyle like in Ohio? People usually friendly, and is Ohio a great place or “just another boring midwestern state”? Anything that I need to get used to by coming from the west coast, like any midwestern quirks?
Thanks for the replies.

I hope you get a chance to see downtown. The new "Arena District" has a lot of great places to eat.
I live in Central Ohio. My oldest son has been accepted to OSU as well. However, he has decided to accept his Appointment to the USAFA.

One comment I would like to share is reguarding on campus housing. If you like the "party" or fast paced college experience, dorms on the south end of campus fit that that mold. If you take your studies a little more serious or like a quieter surroundings, you may want to look at dorms on the north end of campus. Better yet, there are housing opportunities in the "honors" dorms. I do believe you have to meet tougher guidelines or even apply to the "honors" or "scholars" programs. Ask your tour guide for the most acccurate guidelines. I also now that housing selections are given out in the order of "recieved" housing deposits. "First paid....First selection"

Another thought to pass along. As of this year, freshman AND sophmore residence can NOT have cars on campus. You can drive and hunt for a parking space as an underclassman ONLY if you live in private Non campus housing. I don't know the cost of a campus parking pass.

The campus is large and beautiful!

if you are even considering the honors program, visit it. it's wonderful. also, if it's not too cold, walk around the campus, specifically the oval. it's really nice.
