What do I do I was all set to go to Duke...for pre-med. How is Princeton pre-med?? I loved how Duke kids were so well rounded...HELP

You serious man???????????/

I smell something fishy...

No, I got off today too.

I'm really confused. I was set to go to my safety school for free, now my dream school pops back into the picture. I almost had a breakdown.

Here are some premed statistics:

WOW!!!! Congratulations guys! That's amazing...they rarely go to the waitlist!

black07-I know how you feel. That's a tough choice. I was down to Princeton, Yale, and Duke, and I ALMOST picked Duke. If you want to hash out Princeton vs. Duke with me, feel free to PM.

Anyway, congrats!

Wow thanks for the replies. And no, this is no joke...haha, I couldn't believe it when my mom called me and I was at my friend's tennis game. It still hasn't hit me.

Weasel8488- Thank you for those pre-med stats!!! Just what I was looking for.

Your welcome. They used to have even more detailed statistics such as the acceptance figures for every medical school over the last 10 years, but for some reason these are no longer available.

congrats! did you guys get calls?

Congrats! hope you join our facebook group if you have one!

I also know of a student at my school who was told today by our college counselor to call Princeton's admission's director. Sounds like it will be good news.

Congratulations! Hope to see you guys in the Fall!

black07 Duke pre-med is unmatched, although obviously Princeton is a top notch school as well. When it comes down to it, both schools will offer you the same name-recognition to get into med school or whatever else you want to do with your life. I agree with you that Duke students tend to be more chill and well-rounded and you will probably be happier in North Carolina in terms of quality of life.

way to be subtle with that bias.

is princeton done with the waitlist? has anyone gotten a rejection or an acceptance lately?

Wow, congratulations!! What did you do to get off?

That's what I asked myself: how did I get off the waitlist? I'm middle class, from an overrepresented state, not the highest of SAT scores, and white. I never sent anything extra in, just chose a college and then heard from Princeton - a wild turn of events. Above all, I put my best effort forward in terms of my RD application, followed up with updates even though I wasn't ED, and expressed a great amount of interest in the school during my interview.

I did choose Princeton; I just couldn't give them up. :)

Good luck to all future applicants and don't spend too much time on this site! I should have been on here less but I still didn't take all the things I read to heart. To those who were waitlisted or rejected: "you start living the good life when you stop wanting a better one." Applying to Princeton means you're amazing anyways.

LOL and here I was thinking you were Black.

any news on the waitlist?

There has been no news as of late. For those of us with a thread of hope, there usually is a second wave, though expected to be small with a school like Princeton. This occurs because 1) a few students who initially committed to Princeton accept offers to move off other waitlists, and 2) some students offered to move off Ptons waitlist cannot cut the emotional and financial ties binding them to their initial acceptances. This results in the inevitable "summer melt" that all schools experience to some degree.
