the average of the chinese test is 760

If you're white, then it's good as long as you play a sport -- then you can fill the jocky white kid role.

But if you're chinese, honestly, just kill yourself now. A 790 on a test that you have no excuse for not acing is a black mark that will keep you out of all seven of the real Ivies. Those schools don't mess around. Neither should you by bothering to continue your education.

i agree... a 790 is completely unacceptable... if i were you i would pack your suit case, get on a train, and live in hickville, north dakota as a farmer..Clearly you wont get into college... especially since your a native speaker.. a 790 is just unacceptable..im sorry

Is it true that the top colleges don't look at SATs you took in your freshman year? I took a subject test when I was a freshman! I hope it will count!

You guys are being a bit harsh. One 'bad' SAT score won't bomb his chances of getting into a good college! He still has more subject tests, and the SAT reasoning test! Colleges won't reject him simply because he got 790 and not 800.

A 790 is pathetic. You are very stupid. Don't even come on CC.

P.S.
Anyone notice that collegefreak has not replied yet? Why do I get the feeling this is just a fake post for attention?

Man I feel your pain collegefreak1, I got a 780 once and my parents whipped me.

LOL, got to love the internet.

u frickin asians r getting on my nerves. its a 790- u missed like what 2 qestions out of 80+ questions? be happy a 790 is REALLY good.

u only got a 790? r u kidding me i once got an 800 five times in a row while taking the test blindfolded and without a pencil...come on man step it up...

I am white and I have 2 chinese friends. I got an 800 on chinese. My SAT I composite is 870.

well, if you really think about it, an 800 on SAT Chinese in only in the 60 percentile or something, so a 790...

I don't know, I wouldn't even take that SAT (I'm a native speaker) because even if you do well, it won't prove a SINGLE thing--when the full score means that you are in the 60 percentile.

Hello, vocational school!

"4. im asian

it sucks to be asian

and ifeel your pain."

lol.

I would advise you to take 3 other subject tests if you have an Asian last name. Colleges generally hate us.

a 790... lol You prolly missed one question. Hell, if I took the ESL test, I'd prolly wouldn't get a perfect score either, if only 'cause I'd read a question wrong or bubbled it in incorrectly. So don't beat yourself up. The colleges probably won't even look at it if you're Chinese.

Ignore the others telling you to give up... They're just giving you a hard time. :-P

Sorry to break it to you, but a 790 probably means 3-5 wrong, not one. If you look at the curves--for most every college board SAT test--an 800 usually is 0 to 3 wrong.

Ok, look, the whole point of that post was help this youngster stop obsessing over a 790 vs. 800. If you're going to sit there and nit-pick that the OP MIGHT have missed 2 more questions-- might, meaning you aren't sure yourself-- you need a life.

hey! i'm chinese and i didn't even bother to look at the test. no point... and it's even more absurd to brood over something that u can't change anymore... juz pick yourself up and move on!! ya??

Jeremybeach. you actually have no idea what you're talking about. I am chinese too, but based on the statistics, getting a 800 in chinese only puts you in the 50 percentile, getting a 790 is probably unacceptable in most asian families. It is very sad really.

btw, and how can you get 790 on chinese sat2s? I thought for question you got wrong, you were docked like 30 pts

lol dude how do u feel now as a junior?

Yeah, man. Did your parents freak out about that 2350 SAT?

Colleges do hate asians...we control average nearly a quarter of every university :P

Don't worry dude. Wait til you get to the PSAT and SAT.
Your parents will flip out then. :]

my Dad flipped at me for missing 1 on the Math SAT.
Actually, they flipped out on all my scores even though I did exceptionally well.

Asian parents man.....sheeze.

Classof08, I think Chinese has a pretty medium/lenient curve because I know friends who have missed a few and still gotten an 800.
