Before someone tells me to google it myself, I have tried and I can't find anything. I am applying to an impacted major (BioE) and I want to know if Cal is like UCSD where I can accepted to the school, but may be denied in the impacted major. For UCSD, I think they place you in your second choice or Undeclared. Does Berkeley do something similar, or is it if you don't get in the major, you don't get in the school?

I think it depends on the college where your major is located. From what I’ve gathered Haas is an eggs in one basket college and if you get denied from your intended major from Haas you don’t get into Cal. I know that is different for the college of L&S where I am. I’d say give a call to the adviser of the college you want to get into and ask these questions straight from the horses mouth. I wish I had an answer for ya though. good luck! (:

Berkeley doesn’t admit people to their second choice. If you don’t get in for your first choice, you don’t get in.

For berkeley, they don’t care what major you apply to. Just which college you’re applying to.

Not true - Engineering does look at your major. If you’re denied BioE, you’re denied admission to Cal. Sorry, mantell :(

I don’t know about other colleges though. L&S for sure doesn’t look at your major. CoC, CNR and CED, on the other hand…
