Importance of SAT 1 in cornell admission..

i applied for Cornell Engineering School; however, I was worried that my sat score might be the reason that i get rejected... i only got 690 verbal... on the frist try, then it dropped to 660 and 650 on second and third.. however, my other scores are all 800s for sat 1 math, math 2c, chem.. i got 740 for writing and 780 for physics...

do you think my sat 1 verbal score will get me rejected at cornell?

No

(character limit)

no, i highly doubt a 690 verbal will get you rejected.

yeah for 1 they take your highest combined, so you have 800+690 which is 1490. Even your lowest of 1450 is nothing to turn ones nose up at. Your other scores are also stellar, and for engineering students, verbal skills just arent as important to cornell, just as a math score would be less important for say, an english major who got 800 on SATI Verbal, SATII Writing, and SATII Literature, but say 630 on SATI Math and 650 on SATII Bio. (totally made up, but it makes alot of sense)

It will absolutely not affect your chances, especially since you are applying to engineering. Good luck!

thanks guys!!!

but it seems like Cornell isn't your first choice ;) princetonwannabe

I was admitted with a 660 verbal, 620 writing - so I don't think that will be a problem. I had a 560 on writing first time I took it, haha.

I was admitted with a 650 verbal...only took it once...but that's still pretty low for Arts and Sciences, you're fine

damn my counselor made me nervous over my 670, but I took it over for a 730

what about 1370 (640 V 730 M)? I have 710 biom, 700 chem, and 700 writing

wow.... i feel like really dumb
haha
even though i came here 5 years ago.. considering that i am an azn
shouldve pulled at least 650 but nooo im dumb
and got 800 Math 540 Verbal... haha
760 IIc 730 Ic 580 writing...
def getting rejected from hotel :'(

I wouldn't say that mkwon... the hotel school's big on experience and passion. People with lower scores have been accepted in the past. Hope you impressed them with the interview!
