Importance of Writing Section

^ Seriously. And also,

Would you rather have 2210 - 770 CR, 780 Math, 660 Writing (Old scale, 1550)

OR

2260 - 73 CR, 74 Math, 790 Writing (Old scale, 1470)

and you're going into the science field

I have the same problem. I got a 2290 (800 CR, 770 Math, 720 writing) but on the old scale it would be an uber-elite 1570. What does it mean?

dude u are fine. i would be overjoyed if i were you
i am the one with the 2260, only 1470 old scale :/

I have that problem… 1570 old scale, 2260 new scale. I’m pretty sure I’m going to retake…

i would not retake if i were you guys with the >1550 old scale (you did REALLY WELL in the TWO SECTIONS THAT ACTUALLY COUNT)

I think you should spend more time on your EC’s instead. Would you want to seem like a strictly academic statistic? I, on the other hand, have only a 1470 (M/Cr).

OMG I have the same problem. I only got a 2500, with 1700 on two sections. Do you guys think that I should retake because I got only 100 points higher than the max?

i’m 95% sure I’m retaking my 1550/2270 (720 writing).

lololol

1600 old scale/2280 new scale

pretty sure im NOT gonna retake

and for acu290 a 720 is perfectly fine in writing dont retake unless you are really aiming for that 2300+

heh, for sure i’m not retaking
i feel like i just gained 1 more year of my life from making this choice

all the sections count and are important. one is not more important than another unless you apply to colleges that only look at CR/Math

You know, getting an 800 on writing is a lot harder than getting an 800 in either math or critical reading. The percentile on an 800 reading is 99.42, math is 99.34, and writing is 99.7.

fine fine don’t worry about writing section. It’s just about grammar. the most importance in W I think is the essay :)

writing somehow is easier for me though, cuz i tend to make dumb mistakes on math/cr… it’s pretty pathetic

I have a 1570/1600 but I’m retaking my 680 W because I can easily get 70+ points out of it and bring my score to 2300+

And if I’m real lucky I’ll get a 2400 superscored :P

i wish i could do critical reading. so many schools still don’t care about writing.

the writing section comes so easily to me i can’t even explain. i’ve never studied for it in my life, but i don’t even think when i take the test. and i got a 790 and then a 780. my essays don’t even use real examples besides ‘would martin luther king have had his famous ‘i have a dream’ speech had he never learned to speak?’ [the question was something like, are others ideas important or should you rely on your own ideas] and i’ve gotten 10’s on both essays.
if it were writing+math that people looked at, i’d have a 1510.
but with reading+math, yeah it’s a 1360.

it’s all in who you are. some people think reading’s so much easier, but god, i have no idea what they’re talking about.

writing… every test the grammar mistakes are like the same three or four things.

reading, i improved 50 points from just reading more quality stuff and increasing my general attention span lol
