my english teacher told me today that if you dont get at least a B in Freshman English...then UCB doesn't even LOOK at your transfer application..

what is this woman talking about? is that true? how scary..but then again, anyone going to UCB shouldn't get below a B in freshman english...

lol ok...am i to blame when a teacher tells the entire class this...

its not exactly unbelievable...i was just checking to see if anyone here got into berkeley with a C in English, or if they've heard of this as a rumor..or if its absurd and unheard of completely..

Woah if it's true. But you know, it actually makes sense to me because it's Freshman English and you pretty much have to have good (but not fantastic) English skills no matter what your major is.

For the most part, what you get in Freshman English depends on your instructor, even at a CC. Generally speaking it's one of the easier classes you'll take --- I've had friends who aced the class doing little more during class than eat their breakfast and sleep, but there instances where getting a B/C would be a blessing.

Haha my freshman english sucked. We were given 116 assignments and had no idea what our grade was until the end of the semester. He did not correct or comment on one thing we turned in. Luckily I got an A but it was ridiculously time consuming.

I got a C in Freshman english after I skipped the final (eng 1 at santa monica college). But I earned A's in Eng 2 and adv comp. I also had a 0.67 my first semester. I'm posting from the Cal dorms right now so it is possible. :D

nicopoco thats awesome haha that takes a little pressure off of me..(my teacher is from hell) EXTREMELY strict and challenging...but also suppose to be great as a teacher...so its exciting and yet intimidating lol only time will tell.

took English 1A at PCC it was kinda hard for me. At first i thought I wouldnt be able to pull an A since I never got A's on any essay. However, I just recently checked and I got an A.

i had the highest grade in class (93%) and aced all my essays but my professor deducted 10 pts off my total grade since i was absent 3 times and i ended up with a freakin B....dropped my gpa from what would've been a 3.92 to 3.82 =(
