Improving my score during this summerrr break

Hey guys im a junior, and this is my MAY SAT score - 1560

CR - 510
MATH - 540
WRITING - 510

I really need to improve it by at least +300 points by the October SAT. What should I mainly focus on? Im working on math right now, since my friends told me that its the easiest subject to improve on.

Did anyone improve by +300 from the first time SAT to their second? im studying 2hours a day, (its a lot for me)

300 points is possible for you, since you have plenty of wiggle room in all 3 subjects. Math and writing are easier to improve than CR, but if you practice each one and study, hitting the 600s won’t be too bad.

Be sure to take practice tests throughout to see if and how much you are improving.

You have been studying for 8 years and english is your native language and you got 1560.I’m non-native and prepating only 4 weeks and my result is 1350.

^ Are you insulting him?

suleyman95; I didn’t understand the purpose of your post!!

I improved from 1500-1800 and still am seeing some more improvements during this summer. Read silverturtle guide for the writing section and do writing practice test. I did that for two days and improved a lot. As for math, it’s about repetition. You just have to recognize the types of questions they give u. I’d say math is the easiest to improve in, but writing is the fastest.

hey suleyman… soory to say this but english is not my native language :P

okay thanks guys. So is silverturtle’s guide all i need to study for the writing section? what about spark notes? i bought the barrons book for writing and did the practice test at the back, and got a disgusting score haha.

okay so I already finished 5 practice tests on the blue official CC book. The best score on math that i got is 610. You guys think i should prepare more before taking the 6-10 practice tests? or should I just go through them and review? thanks a lot

I’m sorry.
But you are living in English enviroment. You hear only English speach. But I hear Azerbaijan and Russian every day. It’s quite different btw us.
I wish I be american…

^ English is spoken in many parts of the world. What’s your point?

Suleyman95- I understand your frustration in recieving a low score, but that doesnt give you the right to insult anyone, no matter where they live.

soffet- I’ve heard of alot of people improving just by doing practice tests. There are a couple guides floating around the forum on specific ways to study, and you’ll probably reach your goal by following any of them.

Good luck!

@Soffet: blahblahblalice is correct. Read up on the guides on the website, and also check out http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/955109-silverturtles-guide-sat-admissions-success.html</a>
After being exposed to a lot of information, you’ll be more sure on how to take on the SAT and even develop your own brain workout regimen. After a lot of practice, I’m sure you’ll be able to reach and perhaps even exceed your goal.
Just as a warning: DO NOT overdue studying each day. Do a section or two a day and thoroughly review answers. Spread out your training over a long period of time.

Good Luck!

Suleyman, english may be his/her first language but most people do not speak grammatically correct english. When you learn another language you learn the proper way to speak but when you are raised with a language you pick up the colloquial terms. And soffet’s first language isn’t even english so you fail.

I agree with taking practice tests. I bought several workbooks and while they did help nothing helped more than the practice tests. I was able to get used to the format and types of questions they asked and realized that many of the questions are repeated in every test. Not word for word but the idea of the question.

either way, to person who’s first language is english and learned 8 years in american school is more easy to prepare for SAT rather than to me. I learned 9 years in Azerbaijan school in Russian language. Russian is my native language.I don’t hear any english word every day. It’s very different things. I’m sorry, but you cannot understand what is life in my homeland. It’s worse than everything in the world. After all our chances to immigrate were failed, I figure outed that it is only one chance and last hope to change my life to better side.Escape forever.I have 2 years to complete and pass on SAT with TOEFL. I believe that I can make it.I plan to enroll one of Montana State universities and get full financial aid like my friend did.I don’t insult nobody. I just compared situations.
I’m sorry.

Omg suleyman95 you are cracking me up

What do you try to say?

I try say you ar fony ! You are fony making game out of silly tings! I take SAT 9 times and still no good score , I get like 500. I am from kazakstan very smart country but noo i still get bad score very bad. I speak no english not fair! stupid people americans are bafoons making **** in ground

Suleyman95; Why the h*** do you need the TOEFL if you are doing the SAT?

beause your american universities require it, sir.

samd1993,
How much did you got?
