In dire straits with grades - can I turn things around the rest of the year/senior year?

As a heads up, I’m hoping to major in Game Design, working more with the coding side of things as opposed to art, which is why I made the brilliant decision to take as many math courses as I have. Although honestly, my interests lie more with writing, hence my grade in Lang. Game Journalism has crossed my mind, but it seems like a ridiculous uphill battle.

My semester grades are as follows, just prior to midterms:
AP Computer Science: 84
Visual Communications (basically graphic design, and a half year course): 84
French 1: 87
AP Language and Composition 93
AP Calculus AB: 70
AP Human Geography: 76
AP Physics C: 65 (I still have several assignments to turn in for no late points deducted, which are worth substantial credit, this quarter; also, I got a 73 on my midterm)

I’ve made a lot of mistakes with sceduling, but I want to know if there’s any hope for me to bring myself back up and be a more viable student for game design colleges. Also, I got a 1320 on my PSATs, and after midterms, I intend to continue studying for the SATs. Am I hopeless?

You are NOT hopeless. As a matter of fact, half of those grades are already DECENT, you just have to work on the other classes and improve as best as you can. I’m just gonna guess you’re a junior in H.S. Colleges love to see improvement, and if you can raise your grades up as high as you can, they’re gonna notice that and give you a point. As for the PSAT/SAT Stuff, you already got a good score on the PSAT. For my school, the majority of students who have taken the PSAT only got 800+/1500+, and SAT: 1000+/1600 (to give you some motivation). For major, it’s OKAY if you WANT to major in something, BUT in the end it doesn’t work out. Are you talented at math? Are you a good coding person? Are you good at science? Whatever you’re GOOD at, try to explore MORE of that rather than sticking to one thing that may not be “THE THING” next year when you’re applying to colleges.
