I too, was waitlisted in the RD round, and while there are many helpful links and such around the forums, I could not find any SPECIFIC answers.

Are there any set dates on the waitlist decisions? Any ranges? (like second week of may or something?)

Will only accepted people be notified? (or will they be notified earlier? - by phone or email or mail?)

Is there anyone around here who can tell us about what they had to do once they were accepted off the waitlist? Is it busy? Do you have to rush a lot of things ? Were you able to get dorms and make it in time for orientation?

LAST but not least, I would just like to see the group of waitlisted people that I will be competing with for the limited spot. I, and many others would like to see where they fit…and it might be easier for some of us to move on and make adjustments to our deposited schools.

I did fairly well for my SATs breaking 2200 and SAT2’s all 700+, but my GPA (what probably killed me…) is roughly a 3.6 UW. (90). I haven’t taken many AP courses either.
remember this isn’t a “chance” post but just to see if we can even have the chance to make it at all!

i was waitlisted too and would like to know these things also. i hate waitinggg.

1) Colleges go to their WL as the deposits trickle in and they see that they might have empty beds. Part of BC’s issue is “summer melt” which is when someone deposits at BC but then gets off the WL at their #1 college. They then accept #1, and disenroll in BC, leaving spots for a Wait Listee. The process usually starts in early May and goes in waves. A few spots are offered…time is given for a decision. Decison made. If they accept, one less spot available. If the student declines, more spots are offered in the second wave. Process goes until all spots are filled, or June 30.

2) In prior years, some have been called, and some received snail mail. Dunno how that decision is made.

3) When offered a spot, agora opens up and you can submit your deposit electronically. A day or two later, you can register for Orientation. The housing lottery occurs in later summer.

4) The WL includes all of BC’s colleges (A&S, CSOM, Nursing, Educ) and the acceptance numbers for each are different, as is gender, geographic diversity, and a whole host of other items. And the WL is constantly changing as some students withdraw, some are accepted to other colleges which they prefer…

Good luck.

Question

The students that get in from the wait list, are they in the same housing lottery as the RD and EA students? Are they behind the eight ball so to speak in any manner regarding enrollment, housing etc?

^^they will not receive four years of housing, but the everyone’s chances in the lottery are the same.

D’s friend was admitted from the waitlist today; special situation (possibly): double legacy; very late application submission…(like possibly at the RD deadline?)

Welcome to Chestnut Hill friend of Rodney. :)

Hoping to get in also… getting super nervous! Anyone have any news or updates from the admissions office?

@bluebayou

I was accepted by BC this year and committed originally. But I got off Duke’s waitlist yesterday and have decided to go there. Do you know how I should contact BC regarding my withdrawal so that a spot can be opened up for the waitlistees? I could not find any ‘official’ email address for undergraduate admission on BC’s website.

you should be able to withdraw from agora. Or send an e-mail to student services.

Congrats on Duke.

I hope there are a lot of kids like you who are going to open up spots, mathematicism!

anyone hear any news yet?

I was waitlisted and I just heard from them today that I was accepted! i received a letter with a booklet with orientation information and two other letters about housing and log in informations to agora portal.

Congrats, collegehopes! Welcome to the Boston College Class of 2015! :)

Congrats and welcome to Chestnut Hill.

(who are you gonna turn down?)

collegehopes, i’m so jealous of you!!

any info for those of us still in limbo?

btw, if you are a ■■■■■, JUST KNOW THAT YOU ARE PLAYING WITH PEOPLE’S LIVES.

obviously, i’m beginning to unravel.

hey congrats to those who were accepted! i was just wondering what schools you guys were accepted into, and for the waitlist do they go school by school? like CAS, then CSOM? or is it random?

My son was on the waitlist and just got accepted to CSOM. We’re all very excited! We recognize how anxious a time it can be so wanted to share some small bit of info that may be helpful. We don’t know if it was just in our son’s case, but the acceptance letter gave us until May 20th to respond. Can’t say that this the norm or not, but possible they go in waves?

In my son’s case he’ll be accepting the offer.

Best of luck to all of you!
