At some point in my life (maybe now, or perhaps at a different time), I was (or possibly still may be) in infatuation with my instructor. He seemed to show interest in me, but he never pursued me directly. He is super adorable, and (fairly) intelligent and kind as well. We share a mutual appreciation for Wham! and oatmeal. He has not taught me since my freshman year, and I haven't seen him since then, either. Of late, however, he has been on my mind a lot. I know that he has a Facebook page, and I was wondering if you all think it would acceptable for me to friend him/ask him out/(eventually procreate with him)? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

p.s. I have a strong aversion to hand sanitizer, but he uses it often--do you think this could be a deal breaker?

Friend him? Totally fine if he has that kind of relationship with his students. But don’t ask him out or attempt to seduce him. Relationships with authority figures don’t usually work out. Even if he was interested, things would inevitably go south, and that could affect your grades. God. That situation would get messy so quickly and you’d want to kick yourself later.

P.S. I can’t tell if this is a joke or not.

^Hand sanitizer thing isn’t a big deal, if you love him you’ll be able to get over it. The big question is if you’re ever going to have another class with him or not. If you’re not then after a time you can date him and it won’t be a conflict of interest. There was another post about this about a week ago but the person was still in the class.

That’s like going out with your boss. I wouldn’t do it. It’s ok to think every guy you meet wants you, but try going out with someone your own age. Teachers are supposed to be nice to you, and I wouldn’t take his kindness to mean anything more.

Some universities have explicit policies against student-professor relationships. Your professor could get into big trouble for dating a student.

^ Haha. I knew someone would make a comment about that. I purposely used that word. It was the “dorkiest” word I could think of to refer to “loud laughter”, hehe :D
