Intermural sports

I know they're competitive, but is it to the point were there are tryiuts with cuts? If so, which ones are the most popular/ hardest to make the team?

People have compared Interhall Football to watching football at a low level Division III school. It's one of only two full contact college intramural football programs in the country. It's serious, so there are often cuts.

The other sports, however, are less intense. and cuts are infrequent. But, that's not to say that they're not competitive. I played lacrosse in high school, and my interhall games here have usually been pretty serious. Interhall hockey is always fun, and roster size is usually dictated by interest. All the games are at 11:00 or midnight, and everyone traipses over to the rink and screams their hearts out. Awesome.

What is the difference, then, between intramural and club levels?

Like anything to do with sports here, it's competitive. But fun.

Intramural sports have more to do with your dorm, although for some you can form your own team. Club is for everyone and much more serious. For interhall, it's all about winning for your dorm, dorm pride is incredible here. For guys and girls alike, interhall football is intense. Duh, because the championships are played in the Stadium! No there aren't cuts, you just don't get much playing time. Sometimes there are A and B teams just so everyone gets to play. I'd have to say football and basketball are the most popular. Others such as broomball and racquetball are more for fun (but still competitive). Club sports require more commitment, not only do they have consistent practices but the University also organizes games and tournaments with other schools. I know for a fact that the ski team is highly competitive and travels a lot.
