Hmm, I have a little issue w/ one of the answers you provided.

What does the author of passage 2 imply when he says “The Puritans thought novels were once tasteless…”
answer: that comics too should be an accepted art form (both were once under the scrutiny of the people)

I quite clearly remember from the passage that The Puritans banned theatre and stuff. Novels were held with “aristocratic disgust”.

There was an option that read: The Puritans found novels less objectionable than (dramas?). Is this not implied? Theaters were BANNED by Puritans, while novels were only censured.

Parallel… Disparity:
The sentence was sth like: the story depicted the two families, one poor, the other one rich with different Economic backgrounds, but similar decline of living quality later in Life. Different and similar are the words we’re looking for.
Parallel disparity doesn’t fit.
The answer i put had antithetical in it.

In the 2011 I found that the other choice was “antithetical and difference”.

Sentence was like this:
Two families, one rich and one poor, lead _____ lives as their money went up and down in tandem, despite their economic ____.

Yep, it’s sure that the option parallel and disparity was correct! May 2011 or Jan 2011, btw?

^Thanks AimingAt750 for the conclusive list.

I’ve nailed most of em but still not sure about the comic strip question…

‘1. The relationship between the two passages: passage 2 elaborates on a concept brought up in passage 1’

What’s the other option for this question again? I seem to have either chosen this or the other (which was D or E I think…damn amnesia!).

Other than that, I can say that everything else is spot on especially when compared with the 08 thread. The comic strip questions seem to have changed a bit though, there were mentions of ‘comics as an educational tool’ there which I totally didn’t remember seeing this in the test.

^Duffman

Two families, one rich and one poor, lead _____ lives as their money went up and down in tandem, DESPITE their economic ____.

The correct answer here would be the parallel …disparity one I’d wager.

^Vivaciousakrish

Nope, the passage meant that when A just came out, they rejected A, and when B came out, they rejected B too. It means that they were archaic and unwilling to adapt/accept new forms like novels and theatres( when they first went out), and imposed that comics were under the ‘newbie’ treatment too.

Hey guys! For the Soap Opera paragraph in the writing section, did you guys move the sentence to 7 or left as it was???

Can we confirm that for elephant one, its numerous and unrecorded?

I put uninformed… but this is wrong right? :(… My 700 is gone now…

^Shuffling

Yep, I did move it to 9 I think. The original sentence was at 7 if I remember correctly. The 08 threads seems to attest to its correctness too.

^nirvana1234

See the 11 Jan and the 08 thread. The general consensus is numerous and unrecorded…and that fits the point too as uninformed seems to not fit the bill at all.

Okay, I’m just praying for 700+ lol. I made so many silly errors (especially after picking right answers, and then crossing them out because of some unsolicited over-thinking). 17 days!

@john9811
The original sentence was at 6, and it asked to move to 7 or leave as it is… Think I got it wrong than
@nirvana1234
if you find “untold” in dictionary, then it will give you some definition close to numerous. I chose uninformed myself but sadly, I think it was wrong…

and for the comic book one in the consolidated list, is it conformed that the passage 1 talks about the experience of some artists? It did talk about the experience but I reluctantly chose this answer choice because the students are not equal to artists…

17 days of unbearable waiting + college applications. Ewww!

Does anyone remember what’s the other answer for this question again?

‘1. The relationship between the two passages: passage 2 elaborates on a concept brought up in passage 1’

What’s the other option for this question again? I seem to have either chosen this or the other (which was D or E I think…damn amnesia!).

@Shuffling

I left it as it is after looooong time of thinking. Moving it to after sentence 7 made the sentence the last sentnece of paragraph. I thought the sentence coudldn’t really work as last sentence of paragraph… But It was definately hard question.

yeah you are right about uninformed one I had high hopes of 700 in CR, but it’s gone now :(…

^Shuffling

I had the same qualms as you have when I did the question too. I remember vaguely that I finally chose the experience when I noticed that the question includes points that pointed to the students, and not just a pure ‘artist’ reference.

@nirvana1234
I need to get that question right 'cause I bombed my essay
@john9811
Hope it’s right lol

^Shuffling and nirvana:

After some digging at the past threads it seems that the move to 7 is correct. I remember moving it too as elements of the original sentence pointed that it should belong below, or it’ll refer to an inexistent element ABOVE it. (which is solved when you move it below.)

Anyone remember what’s the other option for the first comic strip question again? I remember having an internal debate between the ‘elaborated’ answer and this, and I’m not sure which I picked finally, so…
