interview after admssion decision? need help!!

I am an international applicant to ED.
last week, I received an email from an alumni saying that he would like to schedule an interview for me. One weird thing was that he said the interview should be sometime from now to the end of February. I was confused so I wrote him an email about my concerns about the time line. It turned out that we had the interview this week. And, he said the admission office would still accept his evaluation form.
Anyhow, I was terribly worried now. Does this strange time table suggest anything about my admission decision? Can anyone/ Did anyone ever get an interview after he knows he has been accepted? or the opposite? I mean the alumni should have received my contact information sometime much earlier, right? Is it possible that he didn't receive it at all in the first place, and only got my information now because Dartmouth decides to put me in defer?

anyone familiar with the admission process or ever heard of similar situation? please help me !

No one gets an interview after being accepted - what would be the point of that?! But an interview after being deferred makes sense; I would interpret that as they are interested in you and want to know more about whether you would be a fit for Dartmouth or not, which is why they are scheduling the interview.

Don’t worry - he probably goofed up with the dates. Don’t read too much into it!

I would not over-interpret it. The list of names probably goes out to alumni associations in small periodic batches, and then the person in the local group who is in charge of interviewing has to parcel them out to volunteers. The interviewers probably try to see people whose names they get early by February at the latest so that they can write up their interview, get it in in a timely manner for consideration. They also need to be available to schedule interviews for the mass of people whose apps arrive close to or on the deadline. I think it likely that your name has been wending its way to this person for weeks, and his suggested timeline has nothing to do with any evaluation of your application by a committee back in Hanover. It sounds like he simply didn’t notice or wasn’t told that you are an ED applicant.

Or I could be completely wrong.

In any case there is absolutely no reason for you to worry about it and ask for “help.” Help with what? You can’t DO anything about it. You’ll find out soon. If you are deferred, then think about sending a mid-year packet that might improve your application. And work on refining your applications to other schools. That is something that you can actually do.

Try to calm down. :)

thank you both :D

to Consolation: you’re absolutely right about that I literally can’t DO anything at the moment. I guess I am getting a little bit paranoid as the notification date comes closer.

Thanks again :)

And I forgot to wish you good luck. :)

The alum has no idea whether you’re getting in or not. Some of these old coots don’t know ED from RD. As head interviewer in my region for another ivy, I can assure you that this means nothing other than the interviewer has no clue.

And don’t worry, alumni interviews are just a way for students to get to know more about a college. They have little to no influence on admission!

Thank you :D
