Interview... DISTANCE?!?!

Yesterday, I received an e-mail from a UPenn alumnus who scheduled an interview. Unfortunately, she lives like 2 hours and 30 minutes away (though we have the same area code). So I'm wondering, what is up with this?

I agreed to meet her. Will this help me on getting in? It's on a school day (at 11:00 AM) and 2.5 hours away... Will the admissions even know that I traveled 2.5 hours for an interview? That I'm willing to miss the whole day of school and $50 of gas because I'm so dedicated to UPenn?

Sorry if I rambling... I'm just a little upset that I have to go through all this trouble while someone else just has to walk down the street for an interview. Also, I thought that alumni was supposed to travel to where you are?

i’m surprised that they are making you drive that far, in my experience the alumnus tried to be accommodating and travel farther.

but no the school won’t know or care that you had to go that far for your interview unless your interviewer mentions that you must be dedicated because of ____.

Mm, mines isn’t as bad, but I’m going to an interview that is a little over an hour away. And I have to drive into the city, which I have never ever done before so I’m scared to death that I’ll get into some crazy car accident.

I’m sorry  I heard the interviews aren’t really worth much… But its your call. Good luck.

I would see if you guys could meet halfway or do the interview on skype.
