IR major?

bowdoin doesn’t have a IR major?

in that case…im going to have to go government/legal studies
could that possibly lead to pre-law and to law school?

yes, it could. A lot of kids do that.

To quote from our website, "Bowdoin graduates who have successfully graduated from law school include (but are not limited to) former Sociology, Philosophy, Government & Legal Studies, English, Biology, French, Mathematics, Biochemistry, Anthropology, and German majors."

<a href="http://www.bowdoin.edu/cpc/gradschool/law/index.shtml%5B/url%5D">http://www.bowdoin.edu/cpc/gradschool/law/index.shtml</a></p>

... Gov/Legal Studies is the IR major - you just pick the IR concentration (as opposed to American Gov or Comparative Gov EDIT: or Political Theory. Apparently they've added a field since I was a sophomore declaring my major). Just because it doesn't have the name you're expecting ("IR" or "PolySci", judging from this thread and your thread on the Carleton board), doesn't mean it isn't there at all. You will learn the same things as a "polysci" major or an "IR" major at some similar LAC (in fact, if you look at the Bowdoin Government Dept.'s website, their resources are "Political Science Web Sites" - further blurring the lines between "Gov" and "PolySci" at Bowdoin...) - but you might learn more, because Bowdoin's Gov department is supposed to be one of the best ones out there.

Hope this helps.

Also if your looking at law school, I believe the acceptance rate of bowdoin students to law school per year is pretty close 85% if not higher.
