Is a 3.3-3.4 good enough for OSU?

Title says it all

@ indianguy1 - Depends which program you are interested in?

History or biology with pre-med. @dreamed

It’s getting harder to get on to main campus with a gpa in this range.

@ indianguy1 - Check out below link. OSU maintains this for pretty much every major. You can see which one suits you.

Have you taken your ACT / SAT? What are your EC? I have heard that they do look at those as well.

@ indianguy1 - Also depends if the range you provided is Weighted or Unweighted (3.3-3.4 ) GPA …

This is my understanding of the admission process.

If you are in top 10% of the class, you get in, unless your ACT/SAT is noticeable below the average they are shooting for (e.g. 28.8 ACT last year). Below 27 will be a problem.

If you are not in top 10% of your high school class, your ACT/SAT needs to be well above the average to make up for it.

Minorities and first generation students are an exception, of course, if Urban Meyer is recruiting you, you might get in with an 18 in ACT and 2.5 GPA.

Engineering is more competitive (30.2 avg. ACT in Fall 14, as compared to 28.8 for entire university). Probably business is somewhat more competitive than art and science.

It is not hard to be top 10 percent of the class, so I think I can accomplish this by senior year. I took a few practice SAT’s and did very well. Currently I am getting tutoring for it too.

I don’t plan on applying to anything engineering related, maybe business. My SAT score for sure will be above 2000. @osuprof @dreamed

@indianguy1 @osuprof - Yes, I feel they have a wholistic approach. GPA, Class Rank, ACT/SAT, EC, Job Experience etc… also depends on Major.
