Is a 3 really bad?

A 3 is definitely not a bad score. However, most colleges don't except a 3 for college credit.

I got a 3 and most schools take 3's. You don't completely quiz out of a subject but you can knock off a semester or two in college. =]

Well look at it this way--- all of the exams you took (eng, chem, euro) have AVERAGE scores of below 3. anything above the AVERAGE is "good" (to some degree.)

here's the way i look at it. it all really depends on how much effort you put into it. if you're like some people who study for a test 5 hours a day 2 months before the test and you get a 3, it's different than if someone who crammed for 5 hours before the test got a 3. i think your score should be proportional to the amount of time you put into it, as well as your expectation.

While a 3 is passing, doesn't it mean you got around half of the multiple choice right and did average on the essays? AP standards aren't that high. But don't let an AP score affect your life--it's not that important.

Only 6 is good enough.

I don't think any colleges give credit for a 3 on either of the AP English tests, but many colleges give credit for a 3 on, say, Chemistry or BC Calculus.

3 is a great score, its passing and shows you that you have somewhat mastered the material.

3 for a freshman - ok
3 for a sophomore - eh, alright, wake up and get to work.
3 for a junior - ouch.
3 for a senior - come on, seriously. ya gotta have a good excuse.

4's and 5's are always fine.

What are you talking about? First of all, very few freshmen and sophomores take AP classes so getting a 3 on one is an accomplishment - it's not just "ok." Second, stop acting like a 3 is so bad. Your acceptance will not hinge on your score of a 3. There are so many other factors - GPA, SAT, SAT II's, EC's, essay, and courseload.

almost any school besides HYPS, etc will give you credit for a three.

My thoughts were "Hey, I'm a freshmen... I made a 3 in APAH. So what! Yale accepts a 4! And I hated APAH... with the kind of passion you need to get into HYPMS."

That makes me feel better. :)

^True story. At my school, no freshmen is able to take an AP course, unless he or she is ready for Calculus, and only World History is available for sophomores (with the same excpetion for calculus). So really, if you're taking AP classes as a 15/16-year-old and scoring 3's, props to you.

The reason I got a three was because my teacher was a slacker and did not prepare us. And three's are NOT bad. the point of APs are to knock off college classes that are general education.

A 3 is super bad. if you get an A or B in the class, then it shows grade inflation. 99.9% of the time, you need to get at LEAST 4's and 5's (preferably 5's) to even be CONSIDERED for top colleges.

True story, no one can take AP courses at my school except those on CC with the username "aigiqinf." :) I actually, I'm not quite sure I'm the only one taking AP courses at my school...
I read 4/32 chapters in my APAH book, and although I read the review book... it was the night before. If I got a 3 after that, and in a class I hated... it can't be very difficult to get a 4+.

We did have a lot of grade inflation... but that's what online classes are for lol. This will be my one and only 3.
