Is American Eagle still okay to wear at college?

I wear plenty of American Eagle. They’re still (after six years, ***?) the only store with jeans that fit me properly and aren’t super expensive. And I like their tank tops. As far as I know, it’s probably fine.

“buying more professional looking classes.”

wat

^clothes. Obviously that was a typo.

In general, while your appearance still matters if you’re going out somewhere somewhat nice or you’re going to an interview, what you wear to class, around campus, and while studying doesn’t matter at all, as evidenced by the fact that people wearing pajamas to class are extremely common and don’t stick out in a negative way at all.

I wouldn’t say that no one cares but No one who matters cares. As long as you aren’t wearing something that attracts a lot of attention or dressing in rags it will be a non-issue. If you have a job interview you’ll want to have a job interview you’ll want to have some business casual clothes and if you want to go clubbing or whatever you might want something nicer, but day to day? Avoid full length pink pajamas with matching pink rabbit ears (yeah, I’ve seen it) and you’ll be fine.

You will see some major brands-- Vera Bradley, UGG, Northface, Longchamp-- but for the most part, stylistically, college is about developing your own style. There is no “one” brand everyone exploits like in middle and high school. Your jeans are far less important than your intangible qualities when it comes to fitting in at college.

Ah, ok Mahina. I agree… but honestly, I generally wouldn’t be wearing “professional-looking” clothes unless I was in a professional setting. That’s what I love about these threads… some folks act like if you’re not wearing a business suit in class then you’re a slob who’s gonna end up working at Sam’s Club. Hurr durr… I’m not gonna dress all stuffy for class or when I’m chilling at home, but if I’m going to an interview or other such setting I’ll obviously dress to the occasion. Some of us actually do like wearing slightly big t-shirts and loose-fitting jeans when we can.

^While I totally agree with your point above - she does have a point. I have tons of jeans, hoodies, comfy shirts - because that’s what I love to wear around and at class - but now that I have an internship where I need to dress more professional, I have to now buy EVERYTHING all at once which sucks, where as if I had started buying staple pieces to wear everyday at more mature/professional looking stores to begin with, it wouldn’t of been as big of a hit now
